The east coast open will happen on the 28th of february at 11am in leisurepoint fittness centre in finglas and it is open to all styles and clubs, we will be running 2 mats this time and the will be a teenage devision (15-16-17 years old) these will be one off fights that will be fought under full sanshou rules, the entry fee is 45 euros for adults and 10 euros for the teens but the adults will get 20 euro discount if the register before the 21st of february, if any instructors wish to enter any of there students in to the teen devision i will require them to contact me before the event so that i can run over a few things, i hope to see you all there, registeration can now be done online at www.sanshou.ie one last thing, remember sanshou is open to anybody from and club or style, the only rule is that you follow the rules of sanshou,

€45 for entry on the day? I know you want as many entries preregistered as possible but €45. You might as well close entries on the 21st in that case as it will have the same effect.

Yes we're trying to offer the proverbial carrot here - online application and discount before 21st February. This was put in place after the nationals, there we ended up nearly two hours late in the commencement of the competition as a substantial amount of entries occurred after the 11am dead line, we are trying to grow the sport, and not turn people away, but on re-evaluation of this process it was felt that we were being unfair to the coaches and athletes getting ready, and to the spectators who all had already paid to participate in the day?
We want to be fair to everyone, this way I don't think anyone is being put out?
As afore mentioned by Old Man, there will be multiple areas on the go, so pooling will require that bit more attention, and not something to be done last minute.
    Hope you can understand?
Please feel free to forward us any suggestions that you think could be helpful. We are a young organisation and would appreciate any “words of wisdom” from those with experience in running comps.

i agree 45euros is a ridiculous price to pay whether it a recession or not, but it will force people to preregister, we dont want to take 45 euros off anybody, i'l tell you after the competition how many had to pay it!

Sorry but 45 euro is too much for me to ask students to cough up, we wont be attending but heading to the Galway event on the same day a bargin at 12 euro a head! Thanks for the invite anyway.

I think you guys should refer to it as a €20 late registration penalty, otherwise you're going to get a lot of replies like the one above.

People hardly ever read anything the full way through, and usually the first figure they see is going to be the one that sticks in their heads. They'll see the €45 and stop reading there.

I dont mean to be smart but its clearly 25 euro for to fight on the show, the 20 extra is a simple way of making people pre registerwhich makes sense anyway, enjoy galway.

ps, personally i think you's should just not allow people register on the day, problem sorted.

There is no recognised sanshou event in Galway on that day, so you're obviously referring to, or advertising? something else? The Sanshou fight rules cater for a lot of disciplines to be able to compete together, for this reason we try to organise events so as they don't conflict with other events of interest to the fighters involved, for example we work with Mark Leonard and his MMA league to prevent conflicts in the competition days. If you're interested in sanshou and also participate in another competition format, please let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
It is one of the founding principles of the ICBA and the PWKA to follow the original purpose of Lei Tai fighting (Sanshou) and not engage in a restrictive "our events only" or us or them politics, or any style restrictive attitude. As such we want to work with and not against others. Hope we can work with you in the future and good luck in Galway.
