    I am planning to buy a lurcher from a friend she is a whippet/hound x bull/hound and she has the makings of a real good dog but i am wondering if she is too old to break to my ferrets she is fifteen months old any advice welcome

    Never too old...I have a dog that never seen ferrets till she 4 years old, now they work like they have known each other all their lives!

    I would recommend going slowly though, very slowly....

    I have found the best method is letting them see each other on neutral ground, and also let the dog see what the ferrets do a time or two while tied to something, before letting her loose with them out hunting....and always make sure she is 100% steady with them, because although in the yard they may seem fine, the excitement of hunting and bolting rabbits can wind the dog up so much that excitement means dead ferret...
