Last night when I went to record something on box office (with Sky +) I got an error message up telling me to call some number. I can record off all other channels.
Do I need to ring this number or is it not possible to record off these channels?

As far as I am aware, you can't record any Box Office programme. I think there's some sort of electronic signal embedded in the transmission to stop you recording. I tried taping a Box Office movie on VHS once (young 'uns; ask your parents about VHS!), and the tape was unwatchable. Distorted picture and sound. I think the movie business insisted on Sky doing this to prevent counterfeit tapes flooding the market.

I was under the impression you could record Box Office movies, but only onto the Sky+ itself (not to an external device, whereby Macrovision kicks in). I think there is a timelimit on it, or you can only watch it once, or something?

    What was the error message?

That's right you can record a Box Office movie on sky+ and watch the movie as many times as you want up to 24 hours. After that you can't access it.

I tried recording a box office movie on to a DVD and it wouldn't let me either.

Thanks for the replys guys..I can't remember the exact message but it said something like recording failed and said to call the helpdesk number. I can record/sky+ off every other channel.

Funny you mention VHS..back in the day we used to record all the time off sky box office with VHS. Never had a problem with it
