Job Sites

I'm not sure if I'm in the right place for this (maybe this is more of a rant) but I'd like some advice,

    I'm looking for work.

I go on to any of the popular job websites,

I type in my keyword let's say web dev.

Out pop 20 web dev jobs, 10 might suit me.
As I click open the 10 I notice 5 are the same job posted by 5 different recruitment companies.
Sometimes it's the exact same description and other times there might be a few little changes like one time there was the exact same little paragraph but the salary and exp were a little bit different!!

I emailed one of these job sites to complain that this is time wasting, creates a false impression of how many jobs are available and makes it harder to actually find what I'm looking for.
They just mailed back some generic crap which was code for "well we're getting paid so we don't care".

It's very frustrating because say there is a job listed I could really do, do I apply to all 5 recruitment companies and hope that one of them will put me through?
Do I only apply to the first one?

I try to search by employer only too but it's not easy.

    Anyone else experienced this?

Yes, this is the way the job sites work. All recruitment agencies post the job up as they hope to get the fee from the employer, once the suitable person is found.

There is no point applying for the job through the 5 agencies that are advertising the job, as one of the first questions you will be asked is if you have applied for it through another recruitment agency. If you can find the job opportunity by searching for the employer, then that would be the way to go as the employer would then not have to pay an agency.

It is best to employ for the job through one agency, and then email your CV directly to the other agencies.

At least they change something. I worked for an IT company last year and we posted a job advertisement on our own website. Within hours it was on a recruitment agency website, complete with our spelling mistakes.

Same as that TD, what was funny was that the job they had "borrowed" was mine and was filled about 2 years previous :)
