Good deals to be had later in the month. I'm torn between a few resorts. Would appreciate advice from fellow forummers out there please....

Basically we're a small group of complete beginners and 2nd weekers. Priority will be accessibility and quality of nursery slopes and the easy runs to move on to. Perhaps ye guys can guide us with regards to snow conditions etc..

    The resorts are:
    1. Meribel Mottaret
    2. Les Deux Alpes
    3. Val Thorens
    4. La Plagne

    Thanks in advance

All excellent resorts, but I suspect you'll be paying over the odds for the huge resort and won't get the value out of your lift pass and the general pricing.

La Plagne, for instance is linked with Les Arcs, so you have literally hundreds of miles of piste, including some seriously scary blacks. And the price of the lift pass reflects this.

If you went a bit further up the valley, St Foy is a much smaller resort with plenty of good skiing, but not the same price. La Rosiere is anther resort which should be cheaper and less packed.

I'm a huge fan of Val Cenis for beginners and intermediates, but I believe Valloire is good too. Avoid Valfrejus, it's got the most frightening blue runs I've ever skied. Les Sybelles is another huge linked area, but more suitable for beginners and intermediates, and not nearly as expensive.

For beginners and for all the other things you want, from that list I would suggest La Plagne. However, my impression is that the night life is quiet. La Plagne has ten different Hamlets/Stations so make sure to check which one you are in.
Val Thorens would be 2nd recommendation. Quite a few easy runs near the town, but not as many as La Plagne.
Meribel Mottaret wouldn't be great for beginners, great for intermediates.
I don't know a lot about Les Deux Alps. I heard the town is not very nice very spread out.

    La Tania!

Courchevel Skiing for a fraction of the cost! Loads of Green and Blue runs in the Courchevel Vallee. Green run all the way home too!

www.skivo2.co.uk (free lessons) ideal for beginners!

I learned to ski in Les Deux Alpes. Great spot all around. The town is a bit spread out but not too bad. When we were there it was a bus ride to the night club. Plenty of nice pubs though. Good selection for food also. By the sounds of it I'd say any of them would be fine for your first trip. Pick the best deal and go with that maybe.

Finally booked our holiday for 2 weeks time to Les Deux Alpes Can't wait really... it was €199 per person s/c with Crystalski  won't be expecting any luxuries at this price!

Thanks for the input everybody and I'll certainly update our experience there.....

I was in Les Arcs a month ago, would recommend the slopes there over La Plagne. I know the 2 are connected but you need to watch the clock to make sure you get over and back before the cable car finishes for the day.

Slopes in Les Arcs were the best I've ever been on. Nightlife was good but food not great.

We stayed in le Belmont in Arcs 1800

I know it's prolly all decided, but Tignes is the bomb. Was there in January, and people should definitely try and go there. Chamonix is pretty amazing too

I learnt to ski in Les Deux Alpes and it was brilliant; there was this amazing green/blue run from the top of the glacier all the way to the village fantastic stuff.
