OK first of all I have started a log here
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055812893

But I have some questions I would love answered.

First of all is my weights routine.

    Bench Press 3x10
Bicep Curls dumbbell free weights 3x12
    Shoulder Press 3x12
    Lat Pulldown 3x12
    Chest Press 3x12
    Leg Extension 3x15

Good bad indifferent.I know its leans to the upper body but that is what I want to work on. I suppose a core work out would not go astray.
Also what is the difference between down a set with dumbbell weights rather than a bar? I suppose you hit each individual muscle right?

I am trying to do this 5 times a week, 3 times weights, 2 times cardio and visa versa. Cardio is as in the log 5km walk run. As soon as the fitness goes up I will increase the distance and/or speed.

Would like to do the Sydney city2surf in August so that's the reason behind the running...

But for the time being the premise is weight loss. Therefore should I go for any protein supplements after a work out. I hear its good for the muscles but might be bad for the overall losing weight thing.

Also how sore should I be after a work out? Should my muscles be killing me the next day or should it be OK

Its a nice start. Try Only use free weights though (dumbell and barbell are free weights). No machines with the exception of the leg extensions.

Get rid of the chest press + lat pull down and put in dumbell flys and dumbell rows (google is your friend :D). The dumbell rows will hit your lats 10 times better and the flys will give your chest a rest from presses :P
