Replacing Gas Fire with Real Fire ?

    Guys,

Don't know if here is the right place to ask (& if not perhaps a mod wouldn't mind moving it).

We have a gas fire that we almost never light (along with gas central heating). I was considering getting it removed & replaced with a real fire (which I think would probably be used more, not sure why).

Would it be easy/affordable to have this done ?

    Thanks

    Hi,

We got our gas fire removed. Need a certified RGII person to do the work. Quiet easy to do. You'll also need the know if the flue is capable of an open fire. When the fire is removed, check the base and fire brick. Make sure both are fire rated.
Gas work is certified, they should do a pressure leak test pre and post the blanking of the gas line to the gas fire.
We were going to install a stove but have decided on a Mulberry stoker up to twice as much heat from it.

    Best of luck.
