As i am in the process of restoring a Vacel Vaga ll i would appreciate any photos or information anyone has on the vehicle and interior.
One of the problems i have encountered is this vehicle has no fronts seat but i have acquired HK500 seats. I need to compare them so as to establish if they are suitable for a Vacel ll.

Front seats of the Facel II are very similar to the ones of the Hk500 and FV3/3B. Rear seats/bench however, is distinctly different.

Here is are a few pics of the front seats of an HK500

Albert Camus died in his one.

Something to do with loose fixings for the Panhard rod in the rear suspension.

    Something to watch for.

Albert Camus died in his one.

    Something to watch for.

Albert Camus died in a Facel Vega FV3-B, but he never owned one himself.
It was his publisher's car, who had persuaded the writer to join himself, his wife and his daughter instead of taking the train. They found an unused train ticket in his pocket, so he had intended to take the train to Paris.

The cause of the accident is still a mystery, because it happened on a dead straight stretch of road, but one witness account claims being overtaken by the car a little earlier, and estimated it was doing around 90mph, another witness claimed the car was swerving and waving before crashing into the trees along the side of the road. Some however claim that the accident was caused by this last witness, actually pulling out of the side road without having seen the car initially, causing the Facel to swerve and subsequently crash.
There was never any proof of mechanical failure in the police reports, but the rumour that Facel Vega's were death traps, was fuelled by the personal crusade of another French writer who tried to get a story published that he had found proof that the Facel Vega's were dangerous, but no physical evidence was produced and none of the newspapers published these allegations. The police never found any evidence of suspicious mechanical failure.

Here is a link to the accident site, the next morning:
