Renault Clio V Nissan Almera - need advice

Hi, I'm in major need of some advice from someone who knows stuff about cars. I am buying a used car & have narrowed it down to two, both in the same garage, but now can't decide which is the better, most reliable one to go for (both are being offered at the same price).

    Spec of both:
2001 Renault Clio, 1.2L, 100,000 Miles, All electrics, NCT 2012
2000 Nissan Almera, 1.4L, 100,000 Miles, All electrics, NCT 2011

Both same price, but I'm just wondering which would be more reliable, as I really can't afford to be putting money into it at the moment.
    Any advice?!

They are 2 different class of car, so I would go for the car that best suits your needs.

I had a '00 4 door hatchback Almera, and it was solid as a rock.

The Almera is a nuisance to own, as you are likely to forget where you parked it, what it looks like or even that you ever owned it: it's that dull and forgettable.

Bought my '99 Almera saloon in '02 with 47,000 on the clock. Last September I drove her to Spain and back again. Will do the same again this May. 145,000 on the clock now. When I retire her (the car i mean) i'll buy another Almera because after 30 years driving used cars i've found the Almera to be tremendously reliable.

The 99 Almera was a superior car to the 02 model it has to be said, the 02 model is a bit of a half breed Renault and is heavy enough on petrol.

Nisssan reliability beats renault every time.

Both as dull as dishwater but will do A to B very nicely.

Bit more elbow room in the almera too.

Almera is a great A-to-B car. Very reliable and excellent value for money.

I'd go for the Almera anytime over the renault. Better engineering, but have to admit Nissans quality isnt what it used to be, especially since they started using Renault parts.

According to the AA (UK) renault came out highest for MOT fails, nissan came out good along with Toyota.

Can I ask how much dealer is asking and if there is a warrenty with either. If no warrenty you might as well go private and save what could be the bones of E1000
