Hi, at the moment I have the sky sports channels + espn and the usual entertainment channels. I don't have multi-room.

I want to get a sky+ HD box and the HD channels.

Is the box is free to me?
The HD channels will cost 15 p/m ye?

What channels will I have, I assume its just whatever channels I had before except the sky sports channels and espn will be in HD?

    Thanks

I wouldnt have thought so unless you subscribe to them through the normal packages. But no doubt Sky will still charge you €15 regardless of having them or not.

EDIT: "The channels you receive with the HD Pack depend on your Sky TV subscription. If you have the standard definition Sky Sports and Sky Movies channels in your package you will receive the high definition version of that channel if available in the HD Pack. You will receive all other HD channels with the HD Pack. Sky Box Office HD movies/events cost extra."

BBC HD is suppose to be with in four weeks. I don't know about Channel 4 HD.

Where did you hear that Wizard?

BBC HD is already available but you have to add it in through other channels

    10.847 V 5/6 22000

    ITV HD 11.427 H 2/3 275000 This will show as 10510

    Channel 5 NOT HD 10.773 H 22000 5/6

Also, When you sign up for SKY HD you get all 6 packs for you 15 euro. If you were to have standard sky with all 6 packs you would pay 32 euro. So if you already have all 6 packs then the HD is costing you an extra 5 euro per month.

You are correct but they are being moved onto the EPG.

    Six mix is €32 + HD €15 = €47 per month

All non premium channels are available to anyone who subscribes to HD. I have Sky Arts and MTV HD channels. I have none of them in standard definition.

Was it Sky that also told you about Channel 4 HD? Is that in four weeks also?

Sounds like a cancellation agent trying to retain a subscriber. They will say anything to keep you. They never let the truth get in the way.

Sky Sports was used as an example.

We own two Sky Retail units and an install company, some information does get through to us from time to time. If you want to be a smart ar$e take it somewhere else.

How do you work out that 6 packs with HD only costs €5 more than the 6 packs without HD ????

I have sky+ with the 6 packs and pay €32 per month. My understanding is that if i want to view the HD version of a channel in the 6 packs i need a HD sub(and a sky+HD box :)) which costs €15 extra every month. Therefore surely it would cost me €47 per month and not the extra €5 you say....???

Basic sky package is 22 euro. If you sign up for sky hd it costs 22+15 = 37 euro. But for that 37 euro sky give you all six packs.

So try cancelling all your packs to bring it to the basic 22 Euro Package and sign up for sky HD for 15 euro per month. The 6 packs are included in the HD pack. At least that's what I'm getting

Sorry guys. It is €47 for all six packs and HD sub. Check the website (or just phone them).

I was taking to sky engineer this morning and he told me that
the hd channels will be free by the summer when 3D comes in.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,818 ✭✭✭Minstrel27

I'll believe that when I see it. Didn't Sky announce last week that the HD charge is staying and that 3D will be free initially?

    Hearsay most likely.

Sky have said 3D will be free initially to all HD customers.

My interpretation of that is they are leaving themselves open to a sub being brought in eventully.
