Really sorry about starting another one of these threads I'm sure they're really irritating! But is there anyone out there who could provide me with some insight into this course? Any help would be greatly appreciated:D

Don't worry about it most people on this board went through the same thing. Downside is that the one OT who hung out on this board graduated a few years back from what I can gather.

I'm not doing OT myself (wanted to didn't get the points, now in science) but this page here has some general info about the course. https://medicine.tcd.ie/occupational-therapy/overview/what-is.php

From what I know the OT's spend about 3 days on campus and 2 in James' learning the more hospital based skills and on average there's about 20 hours a week. The course directors are always exceptionally helpful from my experience and will answer any question you have at length. OT's can be reached at oneillm1@tcd.ie according to the Trinity site.

    Hope that helps.

more people interested in OT? fantastic!! Ok heres the 411 on what it takes to be an OT,
    be great with people,
    like working with kids,
not mind making a bit of a knob of your self quiet often,
be a generally fantastic, cleverclogs, wonderfly, superbad, top notch, funkytown, coolcat and badass type individual (i actually think those are entry requirements mentioned on the CAO form)
(last but far from least) be able to make a world class cup of tea (this is very important i'm deadly serious, just look at my face ),
,and we should have a whole module on that last one alone.

i'm in 3rd year OT myself and doing OT is one of the best decisions i ever made. its a really interesting mix of academics like anatomy, psych and physiology with practical occupation based stuff. the job itself is great too and its a great qualification to travel with (a lot of last years OTs are working in the UK and Canada, australia and new zeland are also popular spots to work as soon as you graduate).

good luck with OT in trinity, its the best (oh and don't expect to be able to give anyone a straight answer to the question "whats an OT do?" for a least 3 years.)
