I am going to view this car tomorrow and was wondering if you guys thought it was a good deal or not. Thanks in advance.

    Make: Opel Corsa 3dr
    Year: 2002
    Mileage: 64,200
    NCT: Feb 2012
    Owners: 3

It looks very clean and they said that they provide a full service history and a warranty of 3 months.

    They are looking for 2,950.

    What do you think? Thanks.:)

€3k seems very expensive for an 8 year old Corsa. There are a few 03 models on www.carzone.ie for similar money.

Also the 1.0 litre engine is not the most reliable so I would stick to the 1.2 litre. Actually here is a 04 for an extra €1k with 2 years NCT:

Hey, thanks a million for your reply.

Yeah - my boyfriend said as much with regards to the expense.

Unfortunately, 3k is the absolute max that I can spend. And that's even pushing it tbh.

I haven't got my heart set on an Opel. I had a 99 ford fiesta which has since died so would love another one of those. But for the budget I have, all I can seem to get is crappo makes, high mileage, no NCT etc etc.

I've been online all morning looking for something half decent and that Corsa was the only one that was in any way alright.

So if 3k is too expensive for that car, what should it really be priced at circa? The NCT til Feb '12 and the low(ish) mileage was what caught my eye.

Ok, if it were me and the car is good I would not pay more than €2,200 for it to be honest, low mileage and NCT are appealing but in reality the car is still 8 years old.

I'd also consider the Toyta Yaris, they are a better car than the Corsa and should last you a couple of years anyways, they only thing is that the Yaris holds it's value alot more than a Corsa.

This is a private sale but you might be able to buy it close to your budget:

Another option might be the Skoda Fabia:

    Its a bit over-priced alright, I'd say €2.5k max.

Otherwise - what type of driving?
The 1l corsa will be fine for tootling around town / school runs etc but don't plan to spend too much time on country roads or motorways with it.

Get it checked over before you buy.

Don't be fooled: Service history is a joke and the warranty will only cover the engine falling out. When they take an 8yo car as a trade-in, its valeted and put back out on the forecourt. I'd be amazed if anyone in the garage has even opened the bonnet.
