Ok due to various circumstances I haven't been around for most of January, including my signing day on the 5th. I haven't even been into the Post Office to collect payments (which I assume would have been stopped anyway).

I don't have a valid reason for this, or at least not one to disclose, and I don't expect to be entitled to any of these missed payments. I do however, need to get back on the JSA scheme ASAP. I imagine I will need to go back into the Welfare Office and queue for one of those 'current claims' booths? Will I need to make an appointment or should I just go in tomorrow and get a ticket...

Someone more knowledgable can correct me if I'm wrong, but they will not accept 'I can't tell you, its private' as a reason for missing your signing on.

Obviously I'll tell them. Although I don't really have much to say other than me missing a few signing days because of the snow (sounds lame but it's because I was flying to England and back and it got ****ed up with cancellations meaning I wasn't anywhere near my Post Office) and after that just kept putting it off (figured there wasn't a rush as I was taken off it anyway).

You could have just contacted them and explained your situation. Now you're in a pretty awkward situation.

I don't really see what the problem is - it's not as if I'm demanding to be backdated the money I missed. I managed to survive till now as I had savings from xmas and my birthday, I just want to be put back on the scheme till I find employment as I won't be able to pay rent or buy food otherwise.

I tried phoning the Welfare Office there and it rang out 3 times, so I rang the lady I had to speak to to get the Supplementary allowance and left a message...

You'll need to attend in person at the SW office to apply for reinstatement and unlikely to need an appointment to do so. But bring your photo id, proof of address, of previous payments, of means etc., as you did at the beginning. You mentioned phoning the SW office "there". Are you signing on somewhere other than where you are routinely living now? If so, this is an opportunity to get it switched to where you are thereby making the whole process easier.

Well, your nonchalance is going to cost you in the form of a lengthy waiting period.

More like Fionn MacTool than cool.:pac:

Not necessarily. Go in to your local office as soon as possible and make a repeat claim. Have proof of ID and address with you. Fill in a repeat claim form. No guarantees how long you will be waiting - every office has different waiting times, and you can contact your CWO while waiting.

So I went in, got my ticket, queued for over an hour only to be told that I needed to go to New Claims >_< why she couldn't have just dealt with me there I don't know, surely they have the same system in front of them? It was also past 4 by this stage and New Claims had all packed up for the day, FML
