Was due to fly to Tampere from Dublin for Christmas but got told by Ryanair that they were cancelling the winter schedule and the route will resume on March 27th.

Up to last week the option to travel between Tampere and Dublin was still on their website but when I checked it again yesterday Dublin has been replaced by Edinburgh.

So bye bye cheap flights to Tampere or Turku. Will have to get SAS for over €300 return or else Aer Lingus to Helsinki between March and September only with an added 3 hour drive to final destination. :(

You could fly Ryanair to Edinburgh and then on to Tampere.

The one Edinburgh flight leaves at 6:15 in the morning and the return flight arrives after 11 at night so I would have to fly to Edinburgh the day before and stay overnight (added cost of accommodation) and on return again stay overnight (added cost of accommodation).
Return flight Dublin to Edinburgh - 82 euro.
Return flight Edinburgh to Tampere - 141 euro.
    + Accommodation
Add to that 2 extra days of holidays gone and a trip that I was previously able to leaving Dublin on a Friday and arriving on a Monday has turned into a full week of holiday time.

It's not so simple as to just fly to Edinburgh and go from there although I'm sure that's what Ryanair would like you to believe.
I understand their business model and accept it but what's going on with them and the DAA has become childish and petty.

This is a big disappointment as half of my family live in Finland - Lappeenranta to be precise.

If it helps, you can fly into Lappeenranta from Dusseldorf with Ryanair.

You can also fly from Stansted to Tampere with Ryanair.

I also think that Air Baltic fly into Finland from Dublin via Riga. Think you can fly into Tampere and Lappenranta. Ryanair fly this route also I think.

Finally, Easyjet fly from Manchester and Gatwick into Helsinki. Blue1 fly from Helsinki to London also.

Not perfect by any means but I suspect cheapish options are in their somewhere and isn't the worst in terms of flying times. Beats what is like getting there as a kid anyway.
