BBC HD is definately not as sharp as other HD channels I have. These would include ITV HD and Sky One HD

The majority are those who probably notice but don't make official complaints.

Been discussed before, its odd but clearly there's no going back, a shame it used to look close to blu-ray sharpness, now i swear Luxe TV HD looks better which is a shock but disappointing..

Thank you for the information re BBC HD,very informative.
When I started working with HD over ten years ago it was then 1250 lines.
Quality seems to appear to increase when the engineers are asked to come up with it,but as soon as possible the suits ,bean counters reduce, compress and generally try to fool the paying public.
Perhaps a thread on quality and its demise is worth considering,
    thinking also of audio,MP3 etc.
On another matter I know well covered ,but not resolved on my part is my inability to receive ITV HD on the Amstrad HD box ,even with the new EPG.When this was raised a while ago I was shouted down, did me no harm.

Thank you for the info, particularly 1050I assume a symbol rate of 27.5.

I have been trying this over several weeks in a friends house and with no success, results as follows.

All eight other channels appear and are stored. However when I try to select them "No satellite signal appears, and of course no picture or sound on any channel.
Could there be a download problem and should I try to manually download.
Obviously none of the above is in sky's interest and going through the new Amstrad EPG causes one to loose the will to live sometimes.
Am I the only one with these problems,is it an Amstrad box problem or is Ohm;s law an act of parliament?

Signal quality 80% as mentioned earlier, was in Currys at Sprucefield and sales assistant punched ITV HD channel up on screen ,no problem, but still no joy back at the ranch. No sat.signal, on ITV other channels.

Don't know what else you can do :(

unless you try deleting all the added channels and adding them again

( this is a wild guess) but you never know:D

Would you believe it,deleting all the channels worked,ITV HD has arrived.
The only other information appearing during the "fault"condition was along with "No satellite signal",the figures 48.
Thank you again for persisting with a daft query, and for the Freesat shedule site. The fact that there is nothing to watch is not nearly as interesting as not being able to sort the fault out.

Seems BBC are dumping their HD viewers over to SD,when it suits them?
Last evening ,Sunday "Larkrise"(Whatever you may think of it),was only
available on BBC 1,while HD channel was given over to the Winter Olympics. Are viewers still "Happy"?.When will they become Unhappy and ask for a proportioate reduction in subscription.
What will happen when HD football goes universal?

I don't think shifting the shows around the schedule is exactly "dumping their HD viewers", that Larkrise lark is on BC HD during the week and while other shows like "Survivors" are shifted by a hour, they only have the one HD channel so, they do their best in fairness to them.

I'm a bit annoyed Nurse Jackie's been bumped this week but as I ain't paying a sub for it, I can't really complain.

Another point is that the episode of "Larkrise" is the new one, each Sunday,Maybe BBC should have a dedicated Sports TV channel for the fans ,and they could pay for it.Radio 5 live and all that.
The sooner pay per view arrives the better. Feel better now.

As one of the number of people taking a while to get used to the new EPG on SKy HD box,I found it particularly annoying to find that I could no longer page up or down.
As all the smart folk out there can tell you ,there is a small logo bottom right of screen telling me to use the "Channel up" button.
Maybe "The majority of viewers are happy not knowing that"?
    Or maybe its just me?

By the way, after defending BeebHD on this before, I'm now really peeved with them for them for the messing about with shows like Mad Men and Nurse Jackie, as they seem to have lost an episode of both.

Next weeks Grey's Anatomy cancelled on RTE because of sport.
Any sign of that Sport filter yet?
