Which is the best way to stream video form a PC to XBOX360? Will I need XP or Vista (such as Vista Ultimate?)? I've read that there are a lot of possibilities with 3rd partry software such as Zune or Microsofts own Media centre - but heard as well that none will work 100%?

How are you planning to do it? Wireless or wired? Wired its very easy with vista or xp,

Wireless as the PC is upstairs and XBOX downstairs... I have a vodafone router and WIFI on the XBOX. Playing XBOX live is no problem, just streaming video using Vista Enterprise does not seem to work?

Sorry, I only have it set up wired. I'm sure someone will be along in no time and can help you out :)

I have both the xbox downstairs and the PC upstairs wired to the router which is downstairs. the desktop is on xp, whats the easiest way to stream for my setup? thought it was only for vista....

I have vista and use Zune and or windows media player. Although windows media player will crash occasionally, I have had no problems ever with Zune.

I have tried Zune - I see XBOX on the PC but not the PC on the XBOX? Could this be a firewall issue?

Not sure TBH it worked with no tweaking on mine.

In the Xbox menu go into videos and a Zune icon appears in there, is that where you are looking??

so whats the best approach for me? pc on xp upstairs, 360 downstairs, both connected to router downstairs? is it a complicated process and is Zune the best option to use?

very easy to set up. just import the folders you wish to stream into Windows Media Player, make sure your xbox is switched on, and click on the library tab in WMP, bringing down the menu and click media sharing (WMP11, slightly different on new Win7 version). the xbox should be listed here, just click allow and thats it.
You should now see your PC listed under the my videos section of the dashboard, where you can browse and play the videos from the folders you imported to WMP

TVersity is great, I just downloaded the program and the 360 automatically recognised and worked perfectly, no fuss. Check them out.

do you not find whatever say movie you download its stops playing on the x box to load after a while, very annoying:mad:, not sure if problem exists with wireless connections

I've used all the different options (Vuse, TVersity, Windows Media Center), I find that it kills my laptop or desktop and if there's any other activity happening on the network that it can cause a lot of stuttering, which is a pain, also, herself could never get it to work, so I just use a memory key now, copy the information to it and play directly from there, works a treat

Nothing such with wireless & vuze - I had those problems with MS media center.

I think the usb memory key should be formatted to FAT32 as should any usb drive you connect to your xbox...

I use Tversity to stream and it works brilliantly. Can't recommend it highly enough.
