As I was getting changed to go home yesterday evening, I started counting. I put on 17 items of clothing for the run home:

Shoes, socks, shorts, tights, base layer, jersey, hi-vis, glove liners, gloves, headband, helmet, knee brace and music.

Summertime it's down to 9...

Shoes, socks, gloves etc count each.

this time of year, it's hiking socks or sealskinz, shoes, overshoes, base layer, bib-tights, jersey, jacket, waterproof jacket (usually, but not this morning), Hi Viz vest, skull cap, helmet, gloves.

At the moment... runners, socks, tights, bib shorts (tights aren't great so have bibs over them), base layer, jacket, hi-viz jacket, balaclava, boards hat, helmet and gloves. Think that about covers it. Haven't bothered with overshoes at all this year on my commute, have a place to dry stuff in work so if I get wet on the way in it'll all be nice and dry on the way home! Plus sealskinz means my feet don't get cold in the wind.

Looking forward to summer when it'll be greatly reduced!

How much I wear depends on the day, but I don't have any apparel specific to cycling, so I just wear extra layers when it's cold, and either a thin tuque or a thicker one and gloves. I bring an extra t-shirt or two in the panniers in case it gets colder during the day.
