    Hi,

Can anyone recommend a decent, yet reasonably priced, headset for me?

I will be using it for gaming and Skype.

    Thanks,
    John

I've been using THIS for the last year & find it excellent.

Thanks very much. Coincidentally, I had them in my hand the other day but held off as they were about €50. Would they be worth that much?

I'm unsure about USB either. I currently have 2 soundcards, one for voice communication and headset, and the other for running the sound on my main speakers.

If I were to get a USB headset, would it prevent me from working things like this?

I have a great set of logitech ones that I got as a gift. Only thing is that I don't like how they wrap around the back of my head :( The sound is amazing off them.

    This is them http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/webcam_communications/internet_headsets_phones/devices/223&cl=gb,en

If you like you could buy them off me? I'll send you a PM. I was going to put them up on adverts.ie anyway.

I think I paid about €39 for mine but that was a year ago.

The fact that they are USB will have no effect on your setup.

The usb connector actually has the software drivers built in (no software disc required) so they self install once plugged in.

Thanks for the info. So when you plugin the headset, does it show up as its own device?

By that I mean, would I be able to select it as a headset device in skype or would it be associated with a soundcard on my computer and I'd need to select the sound card.

I would assume its the former...

Yep, it shows as its own device. For example, in Skype it shows as "Logitech USB Headset"
