I'm curious to know when there really comes 'a fine stretch in the evening' ....

after a few months sitting on a turbo where it seems like every minute is an hour and its tough enough to get distance/avg speed/power etc... (on my setup anyway) I'm mad to pack the thing away and do some cycling in the evenings.

Work is a 30km commute each way so I only need it to be getting bright at 7am amd staying that way until 6.30pm

anyone any idea how many more weeks I have to wait?

Just buy a good set off lights, rather be out and about than stuck on a turbo trainer.

thats a funny name mitresize5. When you were joining boards and it came to the 'select nickname' part, you must of just looked around the room you were in and there lay a mitre, size 5. Don't know why I found that funny.

Agree with heff, get some good lights.

I should have mentioned I live in east clare where the some of the 'roads' are more like boreens and its dangerous on the brightest day of the year not to mind the depths of winter.... it not safe or practical over then. On the plus side it really beautiful over the summer.

funny story about the name - I was toying with going back playing football and togged out for training. First ball that came to me I put my foot through it and it landed about four fields over as these days there like ballons. I burnt the ears off the younger lads talking about the cement blocks that used to be the Mitre Size 5's. So thats what the punks christened me ... I've sense retired!!

You only need to wait till mid Feb until Twilight kicks in at 7am but its the end of Feb before it lasts until 6.30pm.

That sunrisesunset website allows you to select dates so check out the times it gives for 'Twi' tomorrow and see if you'd be comfortable cycling in that amount of light on your local roads. The times will vary slightly from Dublin to east Clare but you get the idea.
