Is it better to remove the battery when the mains are in place if the battery of the netbook is fully charged?

    thanks

Not really the machine automatically stops charging when it is full

If you're going to use the laptop on the mains all the time, I'd say charge it and remove it.

There's an article here on it.

As with everything, it depends on what you intend to do.

In theory a battery will last longer at a cool temperature. Putting it to one side and it'll be a few deg cooler than if its sitting in your laptop, and long term thats good for the battery. You could go to extremes and put it in your fridge, though i don't think most people go that far :pac:

Whether it makes much of difference in the long run just depends on how the numbers add up. Like, a lab test with the battery sitting in a fridge all year round will show a pretty big % difference (compared to one at room temp all year). But in the real world, you'd be using it half the time, charging it here and there, turning off the computer (so its not generating heat), not putting it in the fridge, forgetting to take it out of the laptop etc. So the benefit wont be anywhere near as good as the theoretical numbers.

    Personally I don't bother.

It is definitely not worth the effort of removing your battery while your laptop is running off the mains. The improvement in battery life will only be marginal. Plus i am willing to bet that if you constantly disconnect and reconnect your battery for a couple of years you will then start having problems with the connections to your battery! You can simply buy a new battery in a couple of years if your battery deteriorates too much.
