Hi guys.. Currently use the m audio projectmix but am thinking of upgrading,, Was out in mr brewers shop earlier today and they are gonna be stocking the apogee one.. Anyone use the duet.. Are they as good as they say they are?

Really only record one track at a time so would i be making a forward step swapping the projectmix for the apogee one... Cheers

I moved to the Duet from M Audio fast track pro courtesy of Mr Brewer.

The difference in sound was incredible. It was like having your ears syringed. Everything just sounded clearer and cleaner.

Definitely a step forward in quality.

There's the Apogee One for you, only one input, costs even less. Great value box.

Hi Alan, Sorry I wasn't there to make you a cuppa. Thanks for calling !

The Duet is good there's no doubt especially considering it's price point.

Well you could use a PC but that's only with HD.

Part of the 'Apple' thing is compatibility - you may remember that there were delays with the Ensemble when it came out and part of that was the software interfacing with the unit, we were told.

As has been intimated here before, (most recently by WoodsDenis) if the Apple OS/Hardware is a 'standard' it's probably easier to make a more reliable interface than address the variables of PC.

This is the thinking behind the Mac only way of doing things.

No prob paul.. Am now looking at the apogee one.. My multi tasking skills are at a minimum and the one input will make no difference to me.. Also means i can spend the extra dollars on something else,, My only question paul is apogee are famous for their convertors.. Does this model live up to its name?

Also have an akg perception mic with a focusrite isa one preamp.. With these two products and the apogee together am i looking at something that could be top drawer or in your opinion am i still lacking an ingredient.... Cheers

I've never heard anyone complain about the Ensemble family (of which the Duet and One are part) .

It should be a significant step in the right direction.

It will be interesting to hear your opinion on the difference between the Focusrite's and One's pres ....

ah sh1te, another thread where i have to agree with paul!!

the duets are brilliant. I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to d/a's but jesus the duet is so beautiful all the way down to 20hz (which is actually rare in the cheaper end of the d/a spectrum).

yeah there's a single input version out now. The apple integration they have is great and i know it shouldn't matter but they look so nice!

ah it could be worse. the apogee 'one' looks like it'll do the job and as far as the usual stuff you can blow money on, you could be doing a lot worse.

don't let them sell ya a clock though!!

Certainly true. And Im familiar with how good the Apogee products are and their large fanbase. Theyre definately doing something right on the bang for the buck front.

I just think if theyre aiming for the enthusiast market as opposed to high end user (which the Apogee one would indicate that they are), not developing the product for the PC market, which lets face it, most home users run is a foolish move.

Do you not agree that It'd be worthwhile for Apogee to release a windows compatible version of their affordable, high quality interface based on the rave reviews it gets?

If it doesnt happen eventually I'd be very surprised (and disappointed obviously as a PC user )
