    My friend has taken to writing in Irish for his posts/status' on Facebook. Pissing people off left, right and center.. but he just replies in Irish.

    My guess is he's using some CRAP translator online, because his grammar seems awful, and has been pointed out many times, not by myself, as well my Irish is just awful. So.. can anyone guess what I'm going to ask?

    Yeahh that's right, I asked him on one of his status' "...and in English, that means..??" he has taken it upon himself to leave me a comment all in Irish, I half understand it, lil words here and there but I need one of you to translate it for me.

    I've check online for translators , nothing really works - it's funny you can get any language bar ours online! so;

    For any of you Gaeilge heads pleaseee translate this:
    "i cosúil leis an pictiúr a lol greannmhar! conas atá tú ag dul ar aon nuacht leat ar chor ar bith? tú fós síos i gaillimhe?"

    All I know is he's saying something about my picture, and galway and asking me how I am, that is all I know!! - I will apologise now, this is probably in the wrong place, but AH people always know best ;) Thanks in advance :) If I don't get a translation, ill just go with my original idea and reply back in Spanish!!

    Terrible Irish. First part is pretty much unintelligible but cosúil means like or similar to and greannmhar is funny. He then said: "How are you doing, have you got any news? Are you still down In Galway?"

    I'm not great at Irish myself...I think it's like "I see a picture! !What are you up to have you any news? You going down to Galway?"

    Or your friend is clearly seeking attention, in other words. :P It's only cool if you can actually speak it correctly! Hence why I don't speak it...

    it's rotten irish. the like used is the comparitive ie he looks like a cock. not the sense that he likes cock. (that would be 'is maith leis cock')

    The first bit really suggests that he is using a translator tool from the interweb. Cosúil means "like" as in similar to. But he was clearly trying to say he liked your picture and that it was funny in which case he should have written:

    Is maith liom do phictúir..tá sí greannmhar/is pictúir greannmhar í.

    Nah - if you're sending people messages in a language that they don't understand despite them telling you they don't then you're a douche. And from the looks of it lisaface's friend doesn't understand Irish either because he's made some howling errors in that message.

    It's perfectly understandable - all you need to do is take each word and translate it directly into English - no need to worry about grammar or any of that nonsense, it's not like he did.

    Mmm the hostilty attitude is, he knows I can't speak it and refusing to tell a person what you're saying in English is just knob-ish of him, totally like.
    I understand people speak Irish, but , he can't actually speak it, as you can see from the responses, also, it's only recently he's begun this bull****, it would be okay if he did it agess ago, it's just within like the past 2 days.

    It's pissing people off -me included *rolls eyes* gah

    This thread does not focus on facebook, it would still appear if he was texting/emailing ect me in Irish. It's about the Irish sentence and receiving the correct translation, so blahhh :p lol

    lisaface get someone in here (maybe one of the people who translated his crap attempt and knew the proper way) to give you the Irish of something smart like "Look, if you're going to answer people on a public networking site in Irish at least have the decency to learn it properly first", post it to his page and give him a while to google translate it :)
