I see Wheelworx are opening a new shop in Fonthill Business Park beside Aldi (stocking up the bikes today).
Handy (or dangerous !) for me as it's about 200m from work. I haven't been to their shop in Clondalkin. What's the consensus - good, bad, cheap, expensive, service etc ?

FWIW I bought my first road bike (a Felt) in Wheelworx just before Christmas and they couldn't have been more helpful. Top notch service.
As regards prices, not expensive but not cheap either, would have thought middle of the road.... ? (open to correction here)

Wheelworx are one of the best bricks and mortar shops around. Rob really knows his stuff and is always very very helpful, even to complete newbs. I think it definitely helps that he competes in cycling-related events.

Just to add an alternative view. I had a frame built up with a groupswt saddle etc that I had.
Very poor shifting performance and they didn't follow thw measurements for saddle height etc that I provided.
I ended up doing WW200 with only a few gears available.
I know these are not major things, but having bought a nice frame feom them I expect that a bike would be built properly.

That's the one. Almost next door to Elverys, same block as Aldi.

You're outnumbered ROK ON ! I suspect I'll be a regular visitor/customer to my new VLBS.

We will probably still be outnumbered, but I have visited them 3 times and have never had a good experience.

1st when I was buying a bike for the commute, they kept pushing a nexus hub geared bike though I specifically said that I was looking for drop bar road bike and then put up a sullen face and pretty much forced me to walk out.

2nd was when I went looking for a gatorskin in 23mm and again they kept pushing the armadillo in 25mm

3rd was over the phone ... asked for a derailer, said they would get back in 5mins ... never did. Joe Daly got the money from me

Each instance was at a different time of the day and week ... weekday, early morning ... to weekend afternoon to the call on a weekday afternoon.

I find CSS do deals at similar prices and are only another couple of miles down the road and a better place to browse too. Or Stagg cycles for the chat, crack etc. Andy at stagg spent an hour with me going over the bike fit and Jimmy spent another hour after closing the shop showing accessories. And both these places also return my telephone calls.

Having said all that ... if there is another bike shop and if I am in the area ... I will go in for a browse.

Dropped in for a quick look today. Looks very impressive and will give CSS a good run for its money. I like the space and scale of stores like this and the reassurance that you still get the expert advice. There are still stocking it up - with more MTB's in next week. There is currently a large stock of Felt Roadbikes and TT Bikes there.

Best of luck to Rob and the team.
