I got a tin of this (from a russian shop) and it says that per 100grams its 643 calories. This can't be right can it. Also how healthy is it and would anyone have any recipes for it. I was thinking of eating it straight from the can:D

buy fresh lambs liver from a butchers, coat it in flour and pepper and fry until a little pink in the middle, lovely...

Even nicer done on a barbecue...

It could be right if it's very high fat (which liver usually isn't) or if it's canned in fat. Are you sure it's not pate? That is very high fat, and usually comes in at around 450 cals per 100g.

    Liver is a great meat.

just my own opinion, but I dont think meat out of a tin (spam:pac:) @ over 600 cals per 100g is healthy, no!

That's definitely a typo! No way liver is 600cals/100g.

Fresh lamb's liver is unbelievably nutritious. It contains vitamin A, iron, zinc, copper, manganese, protein, vitamin D, vitamin C, riboflavin, thiamine, niacin, vitamin B6, folate, vitamin B12, pantothenic acid, phosphorus and selenium. It's nature's multivitimin!

Don't eat it more than twice a week though as it contains retinyl esters or pure vitamin A, which is highly usable, but isn't rate limited like converting it from beta-carotene. You don't want to overdose on vitamin A.

Of course you should completely avoid it if you're pregnant.

its pretty obvious billyhead wasnt refering to fresh lambs liver - in fact id say the contents of that tin would not be a pretty sight! Even as somebody who loves meat i would rather eat card board than tinned crap meat

I went back to the Russina shop I got it in to verify whther or not it was Pate and a customer with very good english said it was not and it was Liver Meat. Can you usually buy it in cans. I am a bit dubvious in eating it. Its canned like you would get salmon or Tuna etc

Just throw it away, fresh liver is really cheap and will probably taste (relatively!) nicer.
