    Hi

I posted this on the PES board but got no reply, can anyone help or know the right board to put this on??
i am having problems with the picture when playing pes2009 on ps3 on my LCD samsung full hd tv. i have the resolution at 1080p using a HDMI cable. when i pass a ball to another player, the picture is blurry, does anyone else have this problem and what can be done about it? would it have anything to do with the tv settings? ive had this problem before with a hd ready tv but i presummed this would not happen on a full hd tv.
    any advice would be appreciated.

could you post a pic if possible, just to clarify how blurry it is?

Is it blurry when there's movement on the screen? If so you probably have a poor qaulity HDTV with a poor refresh rate.

That happens to me, bizzarly when the room is really cold. Once the TV heats up its fine, but this can take about 20/30min. I bought my tv cheapish about a year/ two ago. How much did ya pay for the TV and when'd you buy it?

I only notice it when I am playing pro evo, I dont notice it at all in other games

Does the game actually support 1080p?
There have been a few games in the past (rainbow 6 - vegas) that would allow you to run them at 1080p but they weren't supported and looked a lot worse than 720p, in rainbow 6's case, blurry as you described.

Take a look at the back of the box, if it only lists 720p, set the ps3 to run at 720p only (by unclicking 1080p in the video options) and try it again.

Thats most likely the case. I don't know of any PS3 game that's 1080p native. Most are 720p, it could well be the PS3 upscaling and the way the game is thats causing it. I highly doubt it's the TV as Samsung 1080P HDTVs are very good quality displays.

Yeah make sure the PS3 is set to 720p for a start - like 2 or 3 PS3 games output in 1080p.

Retr0 makes a point about the TV. I have a reasonable Samsung 32'' BF530 Full HD tv and there is some blurring when the ball is played at speed (nothing of any consequence tbh).

I can assume there are are TVs worse than mine. Have you seen that add where the two guys are playing tennis and thr ball gets blurry? Think it was Viera but basically pushing the virtues of the more expensive HDTVs.

So basically really fast images on HDTVs aren't quite as good as the ones on standard TVs.

EDIT: My TV outputs to the correct resolution automatically though, as long as I have all the boxes ticked the TV will go from 108-p to 720p (theres a little notification box) when I start a game.

thats what im thinking, but even 50hz should be fine to play on.

not sure if it would work, but go to the picture settings on your tv and choose "dynamic" i think it may increase the refresh rate a bit. try it with different settings.

All samsungs have 100hz usually. Can't think of any of the flat screens that don't, sammie wise.

Samsung make very good screens, middle range sony's tbh, same panels.

Id say its just the fact its upscaling it. Try changing the settings on the PS3.
I've a full HD tv and never notice blurring on games however haven't played fifa/pes

I am 100% certain that is not true.

    Stand corrected, sorry noodler.
I knew alot of them were, tried googling to find exactly what was and wasn't series wise but can't find the exact answer.

If the OP came back and told us what series it had certainly would help :D

EDIT: after looking it stand completely corrected noodler, somebody fed me alot of false spec sheets on those tv's :D

Mines a series 5 and only does 50 or 60. I am not sure which it is they are saying eliminates motion blur - 100 or 200 but to be honest for the price/quality trade off, I was more than happy with what I got for 410e.

    Funny you should mention this.
    I have a Bravia 32" and I get serious blur on 2 games(xbox360) - GTAIV and PES06.

Like you when I pass the ball and the screen must move quickly I get blur, but in GTAIV it's off the bloody scales. When I use the rigth analog stick to rotate the camera the background is just a gigantic mess.

What's funny is that other open-world-style sandbox games on both 360 and ps3(crackdown, infamous, prototype) don't have this problem.

So it could be down to how the game is programmed as well.

    Hi Guys

    Thanks for the comments.

The picture is blurry when the picture is moving like when a ball is moving from one player to the other.

I bought the TV last wknd in currys for €440. Its a series 5 and is 60HZ.
Would the picture quality be better on 720p?

Should be much better at 720, have a similar model Samsung and it is perfect on mine.
