    Hi Folks,

How often should you get this done. I was qouted €40 as a special rate by the local garage along with a free safety check. Does this sound reasonable?

Sure, that includes the components and labour? DIY would be just a bit less anyway so if you don't fancy getting dirty...
How often? Have a look in your owners manual.

If you were quoted €40 for the oil and filter change, then that price is practically unbeatable.
The oil and filter alone could run you €30.

I always do my own services, but at that price I would have the garage do it (assuming they are reliable).

You may have been quoted a rate of €40 per hour for the service, which is still quite good, in which case the service should run you about €70 - still not bad, but at that price I'd be doing it myself.

Just make sure the oil meets the correct specifications and make sure the write the grade used on the invoice.

Exactly, at tht price it's possibly going to be low grade oil. You could supply the oil yourself. You can't go wrong with castrol magnatec. Check your oil levels after its serviced. Some overfill or underfill.

yes you can. Get the oil specified by the manufacturer. Not one size fits all, even if it is a good oil.
