Online application form for Russian Visa, how does it work?

    Hey,

I know that there are more than enough threads already on Russian visas, however I'm just a bit confused as to this online application form.

Do I simply answer all the questions, and am then given a generated application form which I must print off and sign?

The walkthrough on the consulate website shows an actual application form which must be filled in "in capital letters", but then the application procedure itself is your standard internet Q&A. This is the part that has me confused.

    Cheers, Rory

There are loads of sites out there saying they are the real deal.
We went with one of them, only for the form to be ripped in front of us :D

IIRC this is the correct site www.ireland.mid.ru. I'm 99% sure, but it's worth giving them a call first to confirm.
Once you've got the forms filled in, be prepared to queue. Get there early.

Thanks for the speedy reply! :)

However, I'm using the official consulate site (the one you posted), and am following all the usual steps, however I'm not familiar with the new online application form itself. It's no longer a simple case of printing out a form, filling it in, and sending it to the embassy with the rest of the stuff. What I'm asking is; how does the new online application feature on the official embassy site work; do you print out a fully completed version at the end, having answered all the questions, or are your answers forwarded to the embassy electronically, and matched up by a hand-completed form which must be printed out?

    Sorry for the confusion!

Also, I'd love to be able to go to the embassy itself, but living in Cork, along with work and college, means that I've got to settle for the Visa by post service. :( I don't mind paying the bit extra to have my passport back within the week though. I certainly don't want the Russians hanging onto my passport for too long! :)

Yeah, you print off the version at the end and bring that in. IIRC you get a log on to it, so you can go back and amend if necessary.
Sorry, dunno anything about posting in your application.
Regardless though, they'll hang on to your passport for a couple of days at least. When we went in the guy told us when it would be ready (about 5 working days I think).

My aunt is applying for a visa at the moment.
There's a bit at the end asking when you want to make an appointment. Don't remember having that when I done mine.
    Anyone know what that's about?

    Hey...

That appointment time means nothing. I put in the date that I had planned on visiting the embassy but then didn't make it down on that date in the end. I went down a week later. They hadn't been expecting me!

    So just put in anything.

    Good luck.

I got one last November and instead of going into the embassy I posted everything to them. I called them in advance to confirm this and they said it was fine. I send everything to them in a registered letter and included a registered letter envelope for them to post everything back to me. I think it cost about €12 for the registered letters but it meant no queues and no taking time off work to go in.
