Just wondering does anyone know if UPC have any plans to add interactive services anytime soon so as to fully take advantage of sky news/bbc news/sky sports?

    Thanks

They can add interactive but the chances of Sky Sports interactive being available are probably none.

You definitely won't see Sky active anytime soon on it!
BBC aren't going to invest money in a foreign platform.
For the moment, the only interactive red button type service is EuroNews on 203.
Couple of possibilities in the pipeline from RTÉ.

TBH, the only major interactive type services you'll probably see out of UPC is Video on Demand (which will only be available in their upgraded triple play cable network areas) but there appears to be no sign of that at least this year.

Channel 203 Euronews has interactive on it.

Don't know where you got that from - no investment is required by BBC for UPC to add interactive,

Its one area where UPC lose out badly to Sky and with BBC making more and more use of interactive especially for sports it is going to become a big issue for viewers

Im reading 1 meg speed on my 30 meg connection, so confused with this subject of Interactive. They cannot supply what they already charge for. Please dont ask them for anything else!
    Cheers.

Regarding UPC broadband, you say your on 30 meg and are only showing 1 meg, here's the thing, my wife works for Talk Talk who are a major player in broadband in the UK, she told me that when they are selling a customer 30 meg it's the max you can get, but more than likely you'll never get 30 meg unless nobody else is using it, it's all only an advertising gimmick, read the terms and conditions closely and you'll know what I mean.

This is true. I only get 29mb on average. I am not with UPC though.

But to get 1mb when paying for 30mb is not acceptable regardless of any bull**** stories UPC may spin out.

I never expect 30 meg. I upgraded to 30 meg so I might see 20 meg as I have never seen 20 meg in the 12 months I had it. I had an open case with upc over the slow speed last year and they did eventually help me through segmentation. I am going to open another case to get 20 meg on the 30meg connection. I gave them plenty of time last year but wont this time.Fiber Power my a*se.
    Cheers.

Yup, it's called contention. The advertised rate is the max rate that will be shared among a given number of customers. If you ask, most ISPs will tell you what the contention ratio (i.e number of customers who will be sharing that bandwidth) is, 12:1 is very good, 24:1 probably average I reckon.

I was with Smart Telecomms previously and had a 7Mb package with no contention - day or night I always got exactly 7Mb (assuming the website at the other end was fast enough, of course).
