    hello

i started playing rugby two weeks ago.

and i have been getting terrible pain in my legs.

this hardly ever used to happen me and if it did it wasnt half as bad.

i'm fairly fit i went to the gym twice a week (pre joining rugby now go when i can)

i coach u10 hurling which keeps me moving all the time

any idea on how to prevent this or sooth the pain.

deep heat dosent work for me.

You say you used to get it before but not as bad. As rugby is a sport that demands a lot of stress on the legs. Perhaps it is DOMS. Delayed onset muscle soreness. It usually goes in 1-3 days. Ice, a massage or a steam room can be good for it. But really you should seek the help of a professional.

the pain is on my lower parts of my legs on the inside of them. the pain is sharp when walking and it makes it nearly impossible to run.

    it occurs the morning after

it goes away after a few days.

Is it the front of your lower legs? Sounds like shin splints to me if it is.

It still sounds like shin splints....which is a broad term! Medial tibial stress syndrome is the one where you get pain on the inside of your leg and would be tender along the border of the tibia (shin bone). Important to ensure that you don't have tenderness which is only limited to one particular spot-that can be a sign of a stress fracture....
    This isn't too bad: http://sportsmedinfo.net/ARTICLES/shin_splints.shtml
