Spare keys won't work

Have a query about my peugeot 206...I have 2 sets of keys for it.
Went out to drive to work this morning and took the spare keys (couldnt find my own keys) and they wouldnt work.....central locking wouldn't work and the key wouldn't work in the door either:( So couldn't get into it

I'm thinking of 3 reasons why this has happened:
    1. The battery has gone in the set of keys
    2. The keys aren't programmed properly to the car
Or 3. The keys dont belong to my car(bought the car second hand before Xmas)

    Anyone have any ideas??

Hopefully (1), but if the battery has been dead for a while and the fob/immobiliser is of the rolling-code type then (2) may well have occurred.

Easiest thing is to pop a new battery in. If that doesn't solve it, here are the instructions for resyncing the key:

    http://www.programyourkeys.com/Peugeot_206_Key_Remote_Control_Reprogramming_Instructions.html

CENTRAL DOOR LOCK (1 BUTTON PLIP KEY)

    1. Ensure all the doors are unlocked using the key.

    2. Press and hold the plip key button until the LED stops flashing.

    3. After releasing the button, the LED will light constantly.

    4. Press the Plip Button once, and the LED will extinguish.

    5. Open the door and hold the Plip key near the Ignition switch, and press the plip button one time.

    6. Turn the ignition ON, and wait 10 seconds, then turn ignition OFF.

    7. After 5 seconds the Plip should now operate.

CENTRAL DOOR LOCK with DEADLOCKING (2 BUTTON PLIP KEY)

    1. Ensure all doors are unlocked using the key.

    2. Press and HOLD the large plip key button while the LED flashes continuously for 20 seconds. After 20 seconds press the small deadlock button once while still holding the large button.

    3. The LED will stop flashing.

    4. Release the large button and the LED will light constantly.

    5. Press the large button once and the LED will go out.

    6. Open the door and hold the Plip key near the Ignition switch and press the large plip button once.

    7. Turn the ignition ON, wait 10 seconds and then turn the ignition OFF.

    8. After 5 seconds the Plip should now operate.

    206 PLIP PROGRAMMING SYNCHRONISATION—BSI

    1. Insert the Ignition Key.

    2. Press the small Black button.

    3. Switch the Ignition ON

    4. Keep the lock button pressed for 10 seconds.

    5. Release lock button , switch ignition OFF and remove key.

    6. Close all doors and press the lock button 2 times.

NOTE : If PLIPS still do not work, start the vehicle and then turn OFF. Open and close the door, and check PLIP again.

    Great, thanks for that!
I will try a new battery and see what happens:)

If that doesnt work, was wondering if I brought it back to the dealer I bought the car off of, would he sort it out for me? or charge me?

Because of the bit highlighted I'd go with option 3. Sounds like you've the wrong keys and need to contact the seller to see if they have them or else you'll need to get some cut.

The spare key will fit into the door lock, it won't turn though.
It is the same for the ignition!
Is this a sign that they are the wrong keys or is it something to do with the engine being immobilised?

Change the battery alright, but have a look for your keys in the meantime :D.

Yeah it's the wrong key. For the most part any key off the same model of a car will go into the lock, but it wont turn it.
