Today's Indo says that it has been paid. Has anyone received the €40 per animal?? I do mine online and it says that it has been paid, but I haven't received any money yet.

Also, do they pay per cow or per calf? I had one cow had twins. One of the calves has been approved for payment, but the Other is marked with a D. This code means that there was a double claim on one cow. However, it does say that it does not affect the payment onother animals. How has anyone faired out with twins???

Mine are all marked "V", apart from 2 animals. One was where I was 1 day late  registering the birth and the other was for a calf registered as dead at birth. In 2008, they paid out as normal on "dead at birth". Does anyone know if this rule has been changed?

think there trying to stop payment on any animal they can....is unreal...is only €40 per calf, which is feeble

That's what I thought, but when they didn't pay on both twins, I'm beginning to think that its €40 per cow. therefore a cow with a dead calf should receive the money

from my reckoning it was on a calf from a beef mother, that monies paid out on...

    From terms+conditions:

    (m) An “eligible suckler cow” shall mean a suckler cow which:
    • Belongs to a beef breed, or is sired by a beef breed.
    • Is not a cow used to supply milk commercially.
    • Is part of a herd intended for rearing calves for meat production.
    • Rears a calf by suckling.
    • Is in the ownership and possession of the applicant, and maintained on the holding.
    • Is properly tagged, registered and recorded in accordance with CMMS rules.
    • Is inseminated either through normal service or AI, to a bull of a beef breed.
    • Gives birth to a calf (dead or alive) in the applicants herd and, is tagged and registered to that cow.
Measures 1-6 must be completed on all live calves born to an eligible suckler cow, and all calves reared by that cow.

    (n) An “eligible beef breed calf” shall mean a calf which:
    · Belongs to a beef breed, i.e. is born out of an eligible Suckler Cow and is sired by a beef breed.
    · Is part of a herd intended for rearing calves for meat production.
    · Is in the ownership and possession of the applicant, and maintained on the holding.
    · Is properly tagged and registered with the Departments Registration Agency, Clonakilty, Co Cork within 27 days of birth. It is not sufficient to post the registration form on day 27. Failure to register a calf within 27 days of birth will result in non-payment of the grant.
    · Is recorded in accordance with CMMS rules.
Measures 1-6 must be completed on all live calves born to an eligible suckler cow, and all calves reared by that cow.

i think it never says about a cow having multiple births, but i would gather u would be entitled to payment on both calves..ie €40 x 2 = €80

The reason this animal has been deleted is the dam of this calf gave birth to another calf less than 300 days before she calved in your herd i.e. where a cow calves on multiple dates between 2 and 300 days only the first born is eligible for payment.

got the above back there from the department by email, when quering about a calf for 2009 being Dejected from payment in this scheme..since when was the above a rule...not on the terms+conditions of the scheme, also my cows calving interval is 294days...angus's on average are 282days..
this is a cow i bought incalf last December-she calved in end of March--but it seems she calved on your mans farm the 6th june..so whos wrong--i think he could be

The system is programmed not to pay on multiple births within 300 days
you will however be written to in time about this deletion and you may then appeal the decision.

what i got back after explaining the following :
I bought this calves Dam incalf in a private sale in December 08 details below...
so this is not my fault-she calved within 300 days...the previous owner is responible for putting a false date on this dam's previous calf,in 2008...
how many days is it since her last calving???jsut checked and she has a 294day calving interval, it can happen--if running with a stock bull--as an aberdeen angus's gestation period is on average 282 days!
and cows will cycle after giving birth...

and the i asked this reply is above in red...

Just a quick email msg, sorry to disturb again!
where in the Terms & conditions of the suckler welfare Scheme is that rule
where a cow calves on multiple dates between 2 and 300 days only the first born is eligible for payment

Payment came through today. €41 per cow. They must be giving the extra €1 for doing it online. They gave €5 extra last year for online.

This answers my question - they pay per cow, not per calf. If a cow has 2 calves, they won't pay twice on her.

got paid into bank...but cut a payment for 1 calf..joke,swear it was a fortune they were giving me!

Am I right in saying that you only get paid once for a cow with twins?
Was expecting double payment, but it says the second twin is ineligible.

Payment is for the cow not the calves so 40 yo-yos is correct
