Thanks OP, I needed to find a replacement for a so-called MP5 player that my daughter got for Christmas (in reality a cheap Chinese knock-off of an iTouch) that has bombed. This fits the bill nicely for the time being.

Mine arrived. It's a cracking little bargain.
It's tiny, and incredibly light, sound is very good.
The UI is pretty basic, but what do you expect?

You can only charge this with the USB cable, but you can buy a USB Plug if need be.

    Good spot OP :D

How does it feel in the hand- it looks a bit like a chipod I once bought and it felt like it would break when you pressed the buttons (could also never remember what you were last listening to)

It's smaller than a credit card. The buttons "click" (if that's the right way to put it?). I'd say if you dropped it, it wouldn't kill it........... not that I'm going to try!
It's probably not the most sturdy MP3 player out there, but at €24 I won't lose sleep if I break it.
It's dinky, I'd say perfect for gym or jogging or whatever.

Not sure about it remembering your last track if you turn it off.

Did you check the switch on the bottom of the player. I think it has to be in the "ON" position before you can turn it on with the switch on the front. Archos were always finicky devices, so play around with it before you decide to send it back. I'm still trying to figure how to completely turn off the repeat mode.

cheers yep the switch is to ON ... i tried and tried but still no joy it turns off no probs using the button so it cant be a faulty button ..shame
