Reconnecting old Sky Box

Basic story is that I want to use an old Sky Box as a freesat receiver.

The signal coming from the dish is fine (tested using a newer box).

Now, when I plugged in the box, the EPG updated to the current one and background music was playing (albeit a bit jumpy).

However, no channel would work and it told me no satellite signal was being received.

After rebooting it several times, a radio station worked once.

I turned it on this morning before heading out this morning and BBC 1 appeared to be working.

Is this just a matter of leaving the Sky Box on for a period of time or is it likely that the Box is broken ?

If the box is a Grundig made box its likely to be it thats causing you the problem, especially as you have tried another box and have updated its system software.

Not too sure if it's a Grundig Box, but its quite possibly the oldest Sky Digital box I've seen.

As I can recall, the two card slots are in the middle and completely open.

There are two, 4 way directional pads on either side on the front along with the select button on the right direction pad.

If it's a Grundig box, does this mean it won't work ?

Press services 4 and 5 it will tell you here the make of receiver you have.

Try this to update your epg.
pull out the electricty plug then plug back in keeping your finger on backup button on box until all lights on front panel come on {30seconds] remove finger. message should appear saying downloading software. wait until its finished {10mins] switch back on box.

If you still are having problems with it not getting a signal then the box is nackered possibly a tuner fault. It is fixible or you can just go and buy a cheap FTA receiver.

    Sorry about the late reply.

The box I'm using is a Pace 2500. I haven't got a clue how old it is, but it looks like a really old design.

Anyways, I left the box plugged in over night and it seems to be working most of the time now. There's a bit of pixelation now and then but not much.

Loss of signal hasn't happened once in the last few days.

Anyone know are there problems with this box. Could this box come back to haunt me in a few weeks time ?
