Just wondering does anybody have the ntl + hd and is it worth the extra cost? Ive been using ntl + for the last year now which is hooked up via scart to tv and rca to receiver for sound. Is it worth leaping to hd just yet or wait for ntl to actually get some decent hd channels.confused.gif

NTL HD, there are only about 6 or 7 channels for a start Discovery and history and bbc hd watched them a bit when i got them first and use them to show people the picture quality on the new tv, so nice to have if you have forked out for a HD TV but would be better if there were a few movie channels as well

It no longer costs more (it's now €5). It has a bigger HDD in it. I would go for it.

Thats 5 euro extra a month over the package I have now, which is NTL+ and 10 mb broadband for 58 euro a month. Just checked there website there and a 40 connection fee applies. I refuse to let them come to set it up, they do nothing and then try charge you for it!

their site is so confusing - can one record two channels and watch something from the hard drive like with sky?

Nope. Its a half baked system - you can record two channels at the same time BUT the box has to be in standby to do this (ie - you can't be watching another channel).

    Load of crock.

THAT part is reasonable. What isn't is that you can't be watching one of the channels its recording from (since that wouldn't require an additional tuner) nor something from the HDD, as sweetie asked (which also wouldn't need an additional tuner).

I imagines it might be a bit complicated programming wise to add these features, but far from impossible. Wish they'd just sort them out. Like the recording planner doesn't even note that it's possible to record from two channels at once, AT ALL. It just says there's a conflict that will cause the second one not to record

Because there is a HDMI output from the Digital+HD box, SD channels are upscaled to 1080i.
I had one of the small pace NTL boxes prior to getting Digital+HD and the picture quality has greatly improved.
Watching BBC HD is like watching a Blu-Ray and the other channels are comparable to upscaled DVD.
    Worth the move I think.

When you watch anything on an LCD or plasma TV it is scaled to its native resolution. The question here is whether the HD box does better upscaling than your TV. If you have a high-end TV this may not be the case. But there's also the issue that you are losing some signal by using analogue video connections (RGB SCART or whatever - the picture has to be converted from digital to analogue back to digital).
