    Hi all,
I came across a very keenly priced new Sako 75 in 30-06.
Has anyone had experience of he Sako 75 and more importantly what is he 30-06 like as a round.
I was originly thinking along the lines of either a custom Remmy in 308 or a Sako Finlite again in 308 but I really liked the feel of the 75 today.
I have a .223 and a 308 as Varmint and Range guns already but was looking for a dedicated deer gun that I could perhaps take abroad at some stage in the future.
I have done the searchs through the threads but would still apreciate the your opinions on the 30-06
    Thanks in advance

I have never used a Sako 75 but i bought a Sauer 202 in 30-06 only 5 months ago. I bought the rifle as a dedicated deer rifle. I wanted a light rifle with good dropping power. The 30-06 provides this. It is a relatively fast round and travels quite flat out to 400yds. I use the Sako 123gr bullet and they run excellently through the rifle. Plus, in countries like Poland 30-06 is the prefered and sometimes necessary calibre for rifle shooting so you are covered on that front. The kick out of the rifle is a little more than i'd like but that is partially down to the rifle itself, it is quite light and has a standard (not heavy) barrel. I got a T8 moderator and harris bipod and the gun comes in at around (with scope) 9.5lbs so its easy to carry and can be held free hand.

I would like to give you more advice but i really haven't shot enough to say anymore than i have. I would recommend them though you will not be disappointed.

yes ,buy it . the 75 is a icon .

i was using a styer pro hunter /the one with the green stock in270. when i seen and shot my first 75 s/s also 270.

a lot of years later i have not change my opinion of this rifle .possibly the best off the shell rifle ever made.

Had the 75 in 6.5x55 delux beautiful rifle, if i had it in 308 i would have kept it, have a steyr 308 now. I would suggest it in 308 instead of 30.06 but if going abroad go or the 30.06 it will cover you for everything. Great round, had it in a steyr pro hunter but changed for 308, no complaints with it though

My Brother in the US has a Remington 700 in a 30-06 for Deer hunting before that a springfield 1906 in a 30-06 , its the types of bullet he can buy for it i think he said 50gr up tp 200gr as for the Sako 75 rifle i`ve yet to hear a bad word about them so if its at the right money go for it...:)

i also have a sako 75 270 win...top class. I had a remington before that and a ruger 77 before that. The sako 75 beats them all. IMO the stock on the 75 is better that the one on the new 85.

New owner of a Sako 75 myself in .25-06. Can't say a bad word about it, would definitely recommend the rifle. Handling and trigger are second to none, bolt is smooth and fast. I say go for it if it's at remotely reasonable money. I can't see a decent reason not to own a Sako 75 if you get the chance.

Also, the .30-06 is not a hard-kicking round and is perfect for what you're looking to do with it. Ammo is plentiful and well priced, with great variety available. Again, I say go for it.

i have an 85 in 30-06 and its the job, if i could have got a 75 i would jump on it, but the 85 is nice and light and the 06 is a great round and i wouldnt look at a 308 over a 30-06, i have had it abroad and its probably the most versatile calibre you could ask for, i say go for it, if you dont like you wont have bother shifting that.

I've had my Sako 75 in .308 since last November and can't fault it. Shoots sub MOA with Federal Fusion 150 ammo.
