Career Break and Pregnant

    Hi there,
    I am a newly qualified teacher and i am covering a career break this year, my contract is august to august, i have just heard on the grapevine that the teacher i am on the career break for is pregnant (due in the summer I think). Does anyone know does maternity leave cover start immediately after the career break ends or from the middle of the career break? I am totally new to all this and have no idea how it works so any input would be helful. Thanks!

    She will have to inform the school if she is coming back from her career break. Her maternity leave should start from 2 weeks before her due date regardless of whether she was on a career break or not. If she comes back from her career break, she could be back anytime after Christmas, depending on her due date.
