2010 DARTS betting thread

Thought we might aswell have a darts betting thread to keep it all nice n tidy. Some tv tournaments coming up along with 2010 premier league kicking off in a few weeks time so plenty on the go!

First tournament up for 2010 is the players championship, starting Thursday evening on ITV(or one of its numbered channels). No Barney (as the sweaty slug didn't play enough floor tournaments last year and no Simon Whitlock as he was still based in Austrailia for most of last year.

I reckon have to look at opposite side of draw from Taylor again for betting purposes and doing an each way bet(1/2 odds to reach final). The 2 obvious names then are Wade & Anderson, but all depends what Wade turns up and how Anderson copes on his doubles. For their odds its not worth it IMO.

I'm looking at this 1/4 final match to pick from(as winner could play Wade/Anderson) in semi final.

    Newton/Wright/Baxter/Dudbridge v Osborne/Stompe/Caven/van Gerwen

Wes Newton 125/1 eek.gif Good player, could push a few players and at these odds maybe worth a small wager.
Ronnie Baxter 40/1. Disappointing in the worlds, if on form can cause lot of players trouble.
Colin Osbourne 66/1. I think he's a great player, one of only few players to beat Taylor last year(in a final no less). Out to avenge 1st round defeat in the world championships?

I can't see anyone in top 1/2 of draw troubling Taylor....as usual :P

Rather than copying in the full draw I've just copied the 1/4 final draw, players in RED in 1 side of draw and players in BLUE in other side of draw.

    Beaton/Eccles/Priestley/Nicholson v Lewis/Dolan/Tabern/Hamilton
    Newton/Wright/Baxter/Dudbridge v Osborne/Stompe/Caven/van Gerwen

    Taylor/Manley/Jenkins/van der Voort v Lloyd/Ovens/Thornton/Painter
    Walsh/Hine/Jones/Smith v Anderson/Klaasen/Wade/King

going to have to disagree with you there Dev. I think that the value is with Co Stompe at 80/1 is the e/w value. he does have a tough opener against Osborne but if he can play at the 95+ average that we can expect he'll have every chance of making the final.

Looking at the draw there, I reckon james wade should make the semis without to much hassle and then i can only see osborne giving him a decent match. Cant imagine he'd fear many others on this side of the draw. So I reckon a bet on wade to reach the final could be the way to go, depending on the price though. And like you devestator osborne is definetly worth value at 66/1 e.w of course:)

disagree with me? Its a discussion forum, feel free :D thats what we're here for!

Stompe's a good player, had a great WC, but thats the best big stage tournament for a good while. I lost money on him last year when I bet on him and then found out he had a bad shoulder injury.

Tough on Ossy, as its the 2nd tournament running he's been thrown in against a quality player.

I think Wade will more than a little hassel TBH. He's got King first match, possibly Anderson or Klassen 2nd match. They're all quality players, I just don't think at 12/1 its worth a risk because Wade's attitude problems (towards practice) and who knows what kind of form his head will be in from 1 game to next. Pity because I see him as maybe the only player that could really give Taylor a push over next few years.

Can't wait till we get some match odds nearer the time. Love the aul over/under 180s and checkout bets :D

I love betting on the most 180s in a match, I've been successful with James Wade on this bet over the past 2 years, he does love those treble 20s. It's a pity his temperment let's him down at crucial periods

    alright lads. 1st round picks?

    i say
    nicholson 8/11
    stompe evs
    gary anderson 1/2

also think eccles is good value for the upset at 13/8

Great win for Steve Beaton tonight one of my favourite players, made all the sweeter by the treble I had him in with Inter and Egypt !

well I never got a single over/under 180 or checkout bet done

Laptop went completely tits up and had to order new one which only arrived today.

Noway the bookies can keep offering Newton at 100+. Some more experience against top players this year will see him improve a lot.#
Baxter was disappointing, he'll need to improve with PL starting very soon.
Osbourne was great until couldnt hit a double against King in semi's.

Great tournament....and Taylor didnt get to the final

Roll on the premier league for more betting

    League kicks off tonight.

Whitlock 7/2 to beat Taylor

Considering Taylor was not at his usual brilliant best in the players championship and has been laid up for a week ill....I think 7/2 is crying out to be taken.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,480 ✭✭✭Devastator

    King 8-5 Baxter
    Lewis 8-5 Jenks
    Whitlock 7-7 Barney
    Taylor 8-6 Wade

singles, doubles and trebles on correct scores for tonight.

    Most 180's bet :-
    Taylor, Whitlock, Lewis & King

    Small acc :-
    Whitlock/Barney draw(7/2), Wade (4/1 eek.gif), Jenkins (2/1) & king (4/9)

PP special....28 or more 180s this week is 8/11. For some reason(few days ago) I was counting up how many 180s each night there have been so far

    night 1 - 29
    night 2 - 31
    night 3 - 35

Also if memory serves me right(from previous seasons) the players seem to get better each week as the competition heats up.

Just thought I'd let you know smile.gif

    night 1 - 29
    night 2 - 31
    night 3 - 35

Also think we'll see a better James Wade, he's defending champion and has had 3 defeats so far  He'll need to wise up and get his A game on and I think this week we will see it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,014 ✭✭✭dotsflan

gone for a lay of terry jenkins tonight! i dont think king will fold as tamely as lewis did last week!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,480 ✭✭✭Devastator

    Totally disgusted!

By end of 3rd game there were 23 180s hit with Taylor against barney still to play. 20 world titles between them and barney didn't hit a single one and Taylor only hit 3

and Wade  7-4 up, comfortable and literally threw it away and finished 7-7

Time for another darts bet tonight!

Simon Whitlock is 4/1 to beat Phil Taylor.

1/ Taylor has already qualified for finals night & doesn't need to win
2/ Taylor was well down last week before coming back to draw against Wade
3/ There's history between these two
4/ SIMON WHITLOCK BEAT TAYLOR 6-2 ON SATURDAY!!

    BTW - Whitlock 7/4 win/draw double chance.

    Went for £20 on Whitlock/draw for 7/4

Was very close to taken straight win

this thread just caught my eye, i havent had time to do anything this year but i was making big money on the premier league darts last year betting on draws with doubles and trebles (and a small wager on all 4 ending a draw).. the odds on a draw was always about 4/1, 9/2 and often higher. one of the few sports iv actually ever made a decent betting profit on just check it out people

    Very interesting!

I was looking at the table for 2009, 42 matches before the playoffs. Of those, 14 were draws. We'll just say that draws averaged 4/1 and you're betting 1 point per match just on the singles, you'd be up 28 points. That's not bad at all, there were 3 draws one of the nights too!

This season you'd be down 4 points so far though, maybe better depending on the odds!

 So much for that bet, but what a checkout from Taylor to win it 8-6

bull, 25 & bull for a big 125 out shot  Best 3 darts of this year's league IMO. Whitlock was in the match the whole way, thought he would have got a draw, both played very well.

I done quad for 4 draws last night, PP are not offering as good odds. 2 games were 10/3 and other 2 were 3/1 for draws.

From previous betting on darts I think bet365 seem to be about the best for odds.

This year's league has been different to last few years. Other years you could nearly guarantee a draw each night, but this year has been a lot more hit & miss. Added to that Terry "Mr Draw" Jenkins was playin crap for a long time there, pickin it up now though.

anybody having a bet on the darts tonight? ive backed barney @11/10 to get more 180's then jenks, should be around a 4/6 shot imo. the other value bet tonight is whitlock to beat lewis @ 5/6, was expecting 8/11 0r 4/6 for whitlock in this one after lewis's performance last week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,133 ✭✭✭hawaii501

I have gone for a treble of:
    Wade 4/9
    Jenkins 11/8
    Whitlock 5/6

Only worry there is Whitlock as you never know what Lewis will turn up. Wade has been playing excellent of late and Jenkins has started to pick it up again facing a terrible Barneveld.
