Wet floor in VW Golf?

    Hello,

The floor under the driver side and the floor of the seat behind is wet in my Golf?

I think it is the seals in the windows of the driver door because the driver door handle stays open when pulled and there are drops of water in the door well.

Anybody ever have this problem the car is a 2001 Golf.

    Thank you.

If the car has a sunroof then sometimes the drain holes in the runners can get blocked and cause the water to get into the cabin via the windscreen pillars. Also water can get in around the bottom of the aerial and find its way in via the same route.

It's prob not the window seal, I'd say it's the inner door seal. It seals the ancillaries panel to the actual door. The seal is made from foam and perishes over time causing water to get in over the door sill and soak the carpets.

I had the problem on my car (seat leon) on 3 of the doors. Takes about 30 mins per door to reseal them.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.

I have a sunroof so this could be my problem.

How can I get at the drain holes?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.

Is it easy to replace this foam? Could i do it myself?

    Thank you.

Yes, you can use a silicone sealant instead of the foam. It took me 30 mins to do each door so yes it is a diy job.

How do I get at the point to put the sealant on? Will I have to take the door lining off?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

How did you get it done in 30 min?

Is there a shorter way of doing it where you don't have to take the door off?

    Thank you.

Take the door off  no you don't have to do that.

You need to remove the door card, remove the bolts around the sides and bottom of the inner metal carrier. Leave the top bolts on but loose, this will allow you to pull the bottom of the metal carrier out so you can ad sealant.
I used a vw sealing cord, it's like a tacky rubber cord that you put in place of the perished foam.

Yes took me about 30 mins to do each door, simple enough.

    Thanks for your reply.

So do I apply the cealant at the back of this panel by pulling it out i.e. at the back of the panel all along the circumfrence of it?

Do I have to take this panel out to apply the cealant or can I pull it out a small bit and apply without removing the wires?

    Thank you.

Remove the bolts from the bottom and sides holding the black panel onto the door. Leave the top ones loose and pull the bottom of the black panel out and apply the sealant to the rear of the black panel. You will see the existing foam seal that has perished. You will need to remove this before sealing with new sealant.

This is the part number for the genuine vw sealing cord. AKD49701004R10

I also have this problem in my 3dr 2003 Golf. The drivers floor is wet in one small patch just to the bottom left of the leather square in the carpet..the rest of the car is fine.

I've re-sealed all the rubbers underneath the car on the drivers side but its still taking in water?

It has a sunroof but i dont think this is the problem.definitely seems to be comming in from underneath. Theres not even a wet trail of water leading to the wet patch..cant find the cause:mad:.

Hope some1 with a similar problem finds a soultion.

    Thanks
