I'm currently making a documentary about the Irish Parachute Club and I'm just wondering if anyone knows if any of the following planes can be found in Ireland...

    De Hallivand Dragons

    or

    Tiger Moths

    Go raibh míle maith agaibh!

The Tiger Moth is no problem. Not too sure about the Dragon though.

Yep as Flyer1 has stated there are a few Tiger Moths based in Ireland. The only DH Dragon that I know of is Aer Lingus' "Iolar" which is in storage (and apparently in need of a lot of tlc).

I know you asked about DH Dragons in Ireland and I don't know if there are any but Classic Wings in England have some airworthy Dragons. I was at an airshow in Duxford last year and Classic Wings were doing pleasure flights in Dragons and Moths. I had a flight in a Moth myself, very enjoyable.

I think that there is one DH Dragon. It is owned by Aer Lingus (EI-ABI)

There is a decreasing number of Tiger Moths in Ireland. Currently there is only 2. G-ANDP based at Newtownards and EI-ABI based at Trim.

If you wanted to film a Tiger Moth on site or want any more information you can PM me.

All I need is one of these planes as a backdrop for shooting, while two actors shake hands and open a bottle of Champagne, singnifing the birth of the IPC in 1956. It's only a small scene but I believe it'll look good on film with the authentic planes. It's only a student film that I'm doing with a VERY limited budget (in other words all out of my pocket!).

I don't think I could afford any flying scenes of the Tiger Moth, but does anybody reading this know any enthusiast who flies one at the weekends? Maybe I could film that.... hmmmm.

My documentary has been selected to be broadcast on TG4, so I'm just trying to make it look as good as possible.

Thanks for the tips so far lads, I appreciate it!

...man I'd love to do a skydive from one of those Tiger Moths, ha haaa!!!

    Hi there
ABI was originally EI-AFK, which was used for parachuting in Weston up to the 1960s.The aircraft is currently in Aer Lingus' Hangar 6, fully intact but not flightworthy. You should simply contact Aer Lingus' PR department and outline your needs. It would be easy enough to arrange a photoshoot.
