Do you read the synopsis of a movie before watching it? or just the trailer is enough?
usually I don't want to read the story. they say almost everything in the synopsis and somehow killing the impression when watching the movie.

Just trailer, I like to stay unaware of the main plot. Although often trailers give away too much too.

I'm a glutton - I'll do both, I'll read interviews, I'll look up the source material. Though i tend to spot interesting movies early in the production cycle, so when I start I know next to nothing. I normally stop short of actually looking for spoilers, but I inevitably stumble across a few.

How irritating is it when the trailer IS a bloody synopsis?

It's one of my biggest pet hates, a trailer that's akin to a '30 second bunnnies' version of the movie. Here's one of the worst offenders, Double Jeoparady from Ashley 'generic thriller' Judd.

When ever single twist and plot point and even the ending is right there in a trailer, you have to wonder what the point of watching the movie actually is? I guess it's designed to attract people that would like to see a thriller but don't like surprises....

I'm definitely neither if possible. I'll watch the occasional teaser trailer, as they're usually plot-free.

But my ideal is to walk into a movie knowing nothing at all about it, and yeah, trailers just give away far too much.

A huge peeve of mine too, is if a review/trailer/whatever has the word "twist" in it. What a spoiler! You can't say "no spoilers, but this movie has an incredible twist"... that's a spoiler. A friend of mine likened it to taking a friend out for a drink on their birthday and saying "hey something really surprising is going to happen tonight after we get home from the pub", and then bringing them home to a surprise birthday party.

I like trailers that tell you a basic outline, shows whos in it, and thats it, we dont need the movie condensed into 2 minute short (looking at you Iron Man!) whats really annoying is when a big scene is telgraphed in the trailer, say you see a helicopter crashing, then in the movie our heroes get on board a helicopter, gee wonder whats gonna happen here?

Look at the trailer for Inception, it tells you NOTHING about it oter than whos in it and its something to do with mind abilities, remember when movies used to have trailers that were shot especially for the movie? like Hitchcocks ones, the Psycho trailer where he takes us on a tour of the Bates motel was fantastic

I like a trailer to tell me some basic points about it like say clash of the titans trailer it's just one really long mash of different fight scene's and I have no idea who the main hero is or why he's involved. I'd prefer a little more.

Thats the complete opposite of what I want in trailers, giving us peoples motivations for doing what they're doing in the movie removes any suspense from the first half of it, look at Law Abiding Citizen, the trailer shows us just why Butler is doing what he's doing meaning, you spent the first quarter of the movie not caring as you know whats going to happen
