Can't login name

"Can't login with my normal username" was supposed to be the subject title.

Hi, my usual username is "A Primal Nut." I have this morning sent two requests for new passwords, have been forced to wait fifteen minutes before logging in again both times, but it still doesn't work. When I type my username/password i get a message saying account details are wrong and to wait 15 minutes. Even though I have copied my password directly from the e-mail which was sent.

Also received two login failure notifications by e-mail.

Also, wouldn't it make sense to allow anonymous posting on the help desk forum - annoying having to create a new user to post this.

    Hi

This going to sound like the most annoying question but when the password reset email comes in the format of:
    Dear A Primal Nut,

As you requested, your password has now been reset. Your new details are as follows:

    Username: A Primal Nut
    Password: <randomnewpassword>

To change your password, please visit this page: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/profile.php?do=editpassword

    All the best,
    boards.ie
and you're copying and pasting it into the logon fields, are you definitely only copying the password itself with no spaces? And the username listed on the email is definitely A Primal Nut?

Sorry for asking these two questions, it's just that a number of people are requesting a password reset with emails that are actually associated with other accounts, so I'm just eliminating that as a possibility.

Assuming both of the above questions are a "yes", it's the very first logon screen that's giving you the error message?

    Thanks for your help.

Basically, I can login at home but not at work, which suggests they have recently changed something in the proxy at work to stop us logging in although we can still access the site - is this possible?

It seems unlikey because the company are usually very unrestrictive with our internet access - perhaps they over-reacted to the hacking incident. Or maybe its something else they changed which indirectly effected it.

I managed to login at work when I first registered this username today which i am using to type this but not again.

Yeah, entirely possible. Actually if you can log on at home but not at work, the problem isn't at this end. Though that doesn't mean we're finished trying to sort it:)

It could well be something undeliberate that they've done or a DNS caching problem at their end or any one of 100 different things. But at work can you try holding down ctrl and hitting F5 to see if it helps? There also may be something funky about the timeout as a result of a work caching issue so when logging in if you're not sharing a computer with someone else, try ticking the "remember me" tick box and manually logging out later.
