yoga is very relaxing and quite good for flexibility but unless you're doing bikram yoga and watching your diet I doubt you'll lose weight.

i play for an AIL rugby team and we did yoga one night a week last year. great for flexibility and core strength. also great for trying to hold in your farts in front of the hot polish yoga instructor.

Bikram is not the only dynamic form of yoga, though.

Yes ashtanga also - overall i would use it as an add on to an already existing program.

Must do a video on yoga for gym/weight/athlete trainee's

I've lost weight since I started yoga but I'd say that's more to do with hitting the gym 4 times a week and watching what I eat than anything else. It has made me mad bendy though.

Bikram is tons tougher than ashtanga though with the heat. www.yogadublin.com at the Charlemont luas stop is very good as is the http://www.the-elbowroom.com/ if you're on the northside.

Is it feasable to do yoga by yourself at home, following a book or videos I mean?

Wouln't be interested in it for exercise tbh, but wouldn't mind giving it a go for the flexibility.

The heat is the only thing that makes a Bikram class tough. The poses are easy.

Ashtanga is much, much tougher. Combine in with good eating and you'll lose weight.
