How to become a Teacher?

So I'm in a predicament. I left school at an early age for personal reasons, before sitting my leaving cert. I've been working ever since, but have realised I'm in a dead end job at 21 and need to do something to get out of it.
Everyone I know seems to think I would make an excellent primary school teacher, and I've started to come around to the idea. My predicament is that I have no idea how to attain this goal.
Looking around at various information sites on further education I'm still as confused as I was when I started. Is there a straight forward way to go? What do I need to do to get into a college course in school teaching?

I would really appreciate any help you guys can offer!
    Thanks!

hi, as far as i know if your under 23(ie. not a mature student) then you must have your leaving cert to gain entry into college. another point-if you want to get onto a course for primary school teaching you need honours irish.
so i think your only option at this point is to get onto a leaving cert course(ask in you local VEC) and apply to college when you complete this. you'l need good points, and as i've said, you'll need a good grasp of irish.
the only other option is to hold off until your over 23, as entry to college will then be based on an interview/previous experience rather than leaving cert points.
    best of luck :)

    Nix1 is right.

The first thing you need to do is get a C3 in Higher level Irish. You can't enter any course, be it undergrad, or postgrad, no matter what your age, without it. Not in Ireland at any rate.

(A pass in first Arts Irish counts as well, but isn't very applicable in your case).
