Hey just a quick question/inquiry, just wondering if there is anything I can do in this situation or if it's just a case of waiting out....

I work in retail and have been for the last 4.5 years. I only earn roughly 400 euro a month and applied for partial dole after finishing college. Basically I would just be delighted to be earning what those that are on the dole are getting.

I applied in late June 09 and have been sending off slips stating which days I have worked signed by my manager since then. I have to go back in to the social welfare office this week to get more slips from them. Every time I've been down I've accepted that the way things are, things will take some time. However I never thought it would take this long. Am I being too nice? Should I kick up some sort of a fuss or is this a useless endeavor? Has anyone else had to wait this long?

Muct depend on what part of the country you are in. Most of my colleagues were sorted out within 3 week with some having to wait for a visit from a means tester. It seems to be easier if you are only working 3 days a week and were previously working more. Also it's easier if you have the required amount of PRSI payments made.

Next time you are at the office I would que up and ask whats going on.

If your claim is approved you'd be looking at about €2800.

I signed on In Galway for JSB in July 2009 and was processed after 15 weeks. You may not get any luck phoning due the work to rule thats going on. Why not attach a note to your weekly slip, asking why there is a delay.
