Harvey Norman advertising TVs with Freeview HD tuners

In some of today's newspapers an Harvey Norman advertising insert is describing 3 of its TVs as having built-in freeview HD tuners and almost all of the others as having digital freeview tuners.

In the past they have advertised TVs with ATSC (US standard) tuners.

Is this down to plain stupidity or is there an alternative motive?

From what I gather a DVB-T2 (Freeview tuner) will pick up MPEG2 (Freeiew) and MPEG4 (RTE) variants of plain old DVB-T as well.

Although I dont think there are DVB-T2 sets on the market just yet ?????????

What these sets probably are is "HD ready" (not even full HD) MPEG2-only freeview sets (i.e. crap)

Exactly my point. Sony will be launching T2 sets later this year (pre World Cup) in the UK.

Sloppy attention to detail in the flyer.

There are plenty of ads like this where 'HD Ready' directly follows Freeview. It's probably just carelessness but people are confused enough already.

The 3 TVs were described as follows

    LG 45LF2500 - 1980 x 1080 resolution, built-in Freeview HD digital tuner, ...
    Finlux LCD46GSV094 - 1980 x 1080 resolution, HD freeview tuner, ...
    Philips 42PFL3604 - 1980 x 1080 resolution, HD freeview tuner, ...

HD ready was probably what they wanted to say but are getting confused with Freeview HD rollout in the UK.
