    Hi all,

I was turning out of my estate a week or so ago and I was a while trying to get out. Eventually I saw a safe gap. There was headlights coming from my left but there were quite far away so I proceeded. As I was just across the road those headlights were coming at me FAST. I Accelerated hard to gather speed to avoid a collision from the back. In the process the car MAY have swerved slightly as I was still turning out. Ive pulled out of the same estate for 5 years and its in a town so i know when i see a car as far away as he was, that i have plenty of time to get out.

Anyway the long and the short is that this car was a police car. Young cop on his own pulled me over and told me i was "driving without due care and attention" accelerating like that. (car is a Diesel A4 so hardly a ferrari). I explained that i was quite startled as he was going a lot faster that I expected him to. He was clearly speeding and no blues and twos on? But I didnt make an issue of it. I was polite and respectful at all times. He told me i would get a fine in the door, I asked if I would get points and he said he didnt know.

A week later, 2 points and 80 euros fine. Im fuming. I did nothing wrong but react to a situation. If i was speeding, on the phone etc I would take it and pay it no problem but this is madness. Seems to be a young lad straight out of templemore trying to make a name for himself, but at the end of the day its his word against mine? Do i stand any chance of winning?? Very scared of loosing and ending up with 4 points instead of 2.
