Annoying Sounds, Phrases and Abbreviations in Posts?

    'Mwaaah' & 'Hhmmmm...'

... are two 'Sounds' that I don't mind seeing written as words in posts and texts.

Kisses as xxxx's I can also live with it.

One I can't stand though, is this 'Nyom, Nyom' business - it's just as bad as hearing someone eat with their mouth open.

So, are there any words, sounds, abbreviations etc etc - that are like fingernails on a blackboard to you when you see them in a post?

    LOL, LMAO, ROFL.

Lol = Not too bad originally, but now just used as a conversation filler
    LMAO = Are you really?
    ROFL = As above

    YORE MA.

In the charter I believe :)

Has anyone else noticed that people are no longer allowed 'Thank' posts in the charter or thank posts in a closed thread?

Yep, apparently it was a bug in the boards software that we could thank locked posts. I preferred it that way; but ah well.

There's some discussion about it in Feedback

Yeah. :( I wanna thank em so bad...tis unfair. :(

Anyway, I love all abbreviations, ROFL and LMAO can be annoying sometimes, but sometimes I really do LOL and I wanna express it with more gusto.

I hate when people use the term "meh" to describe their indifference of something!

    Its exclusively used by gimps

The correct abbreviation to use is almost always "QLTM" Quietly laughing to myself. I can count the number of times I have actually lolled at a post on the parts of my body that I can wiggle.

    The aforementioned LOLs,LMAOs,ROLFs,LULZ etc.

Meh, ghey, wimmin - I really don't find them amusing in any way, in fact I hate these phrases. When I see them in posts I immediately think 'that person is a complete tosser'.

    Real smooth

Does anyone love writing back in text messages asking what the abbreviation meant just to get that person to spell out exactly what they had abbreviated??

    Satisfying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,466 ✭✭✭Forest Master

"Won't somebody please think of the children"
"I for one welcome our xxxxx overlords"
"In Soviet Russia x does x to you".
    "Wimmins"
    "Roflcoptor"
    "Angry much?"

Anyone who puts their PC specs in their sig.

Also - when someone makes a crap pun and they feel the need to highlight it in italics, just so nobody misses it. Post #7 here, for example.

    Lame!!

Hmm and Mwah among others, are in the Collins English Dictionary.

I ocassionaly use lol if I am actually feeling the urge to laugh (out loud ) at a post but there is a sort of shallowness attached to using them even if it's not ment .

Same with the overuse of the Big Grin smiley :o

That's like announcing an upcoming visit, and is less than 1 out of 10 on the threat scale. There isn't even a hint of someone's balls being made into a pair of earrings.

I hate every abbreviation, they just really piss me of,just like text speak, no point in it at all and especially when people use them in a normal converstation ,thats just really grinds my gears! why say lol when your speaking to someone instead of actually laughing ?

Also hate the rolly eyes on forums with a passion....

Also hate the sound of hair dryers...my girlfriend wakes up like a hour before me to get ready for college and uses that hairdryer every morning without fail in the room where im asleep. The very definition of a bad egg

Someone only makes earrings from testicles when they are angry.

Someone with real power never gets angry, they just dismiss people with as little expended energy as possible.

Rolling On Floor Laughing My Ass Off At Brummytom?

I've done that at least twice.

Most annoying sound I can think of is my housemate dragging her feet along. Could she not lift her feet? Argh, so annoying.

I also hate the sound of clocks ticking when I am going to sleep.

People will be less much likely to re-offend if they get a good buggering from one of the Mods.

"IBTL" much like "Worst thread ever" are phrases generally monopolised by gutter scum of the lowest order.

The sound that grates on me most is "Fap, Fap, Fap". I just think it sounds too fast for ****. I like long smooth strokes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 193 ✭✭Ciaran187

One that's really annoying me at the minute is an adaptation of the 1990's "Like, totally". Only, these days, the little muppets are walking around saying "Like, total".

It doesn't even make any sense.
Muppet A: So are you a muppet?
    Muppet B: Like, total.

Also, OMG. Why do you say OMG when it takes the same amount of time to say Oh My God? Do I walk up to you and say "YAAFMAIHYD"? (You're An Annoying Fucking Muppet And I Hope You Die)

    Ok, rant over.

Back to these boards, In Before The Lock. Why not repeatedly hit F5 until a new thread is started and write "First" on every one of them? Don't get this one. If I'm missing something, maybe someone could fill me in?

When people put "End of" at the end of their posts...that really pisses me off
