    Anyone catch this.
Whipped sacriledge 11 times trying to get the nag to start the race.
Got a 7 day ban for doing this.

Anyone got any views on this.
Personally i think it was an over reaction as it was a notorious quirky horse that has a mind of its own about racing and that the young jockey was doing everything in his power to get the horse to start. Depending on the type of whip he was using the animal may have felt minimal contact.

Big mac is full of sh*t on this matter and only tickens the fact that he shouldnt be on the box imo.

I haven't seen the clip, but I think it depends on the way in which he hit the horse - ie - did he just give him a few slaps in an effort to get him going, or was he deemed to have lost his temper and taken it out on the horse. No doubt the stewarts on the day would have viewed the footage a few times, as well as talking to the jockey in question, before making their decision. They may have felt that he used the whip with excessive frequency and that's why he was banned.

Re. the whip: jockeys have to use a whip which meets the Turf Club regulations, so the jockey in question should have been using a 'standard' whip.

He used the whip above the shoulder which i think was the problem but it wasnt as he got off the horse and hit him a clatter of a hurley. I think it was an over reaction but he did break the rules which meant he needed to be punished. However Big mac calling for a more severe ban was uncalled for and totally wrong imo.
Try You tube a view of the clip if not i`ll try russell it up.
