How delectable are these? They are an absolutely perfect creation. The size and shape and feel of them in your hand is just lovely.

They're everywhere at the moment. Piles of them in boxes in every supermarket..they're just beautiful all red and blue and yellow and gorgeous. Sometimes I just want to put my hands in amongst them and rummage them around:o.

I have one in my handbag..waiting... just after a curry but still I'm tempted. Only about 7gms of fat in one too. I bite the top off and lick out some of the fondant. Then I break a piece off and scoop out more lovely stuff. Then the end bit with just the right amount of creme for a heavenly finish...mmmmm!
I'd love a massive one at Easter full of that stuff.:o

Dogs are not just for christmas, and creme eggs are not just for easter! nobody complains when they see turkeys in shops all year round...

€2 shops often have them at odd times of the year. It is a clever marketing trick, a lot of people might only buy a few bars in a whole year, and so think they must get these before they are not "in season" again. I thought they come out/get marketed around 3 times a year.

I do find them a bit too sweet but like it since it means I CAN just eat one of them if I get a multipack (bargain alerts had 3 for €1 in supervalu).

The worst commercialisation of easter I have seen was by those "3 priest" singers, they had an album out last year and a TV ad said "the perfect gift this easter", as though people should start giving each other "easter presents".

It never occurred to me that there might be such a striking similarity between creme eggs and lady's breasts but since you put it like that.....

I used to love Creme Eggs when I was about 13, but at the same time I started to get awful migraines. I eventually made the connection between the two, and once I stopped eating the Creme Eggs, I stopped getting migraines.

    Caramel Eggs FTW.

I've suffered from migraines since I was about 13 or 14 (classical migraine with an aura). I've read numerous books on the subject..read about all the usual triggers, chocolate, cheese, over sleeping etc..Then I found this book in Galway. It was brilliant.

The writer (I forget who, I lent the book to someone and didn't get it back) said unbalanced blood sugar levels were a really common cause. Eating chocolate on an empty stomach is a problem, not the chocolate itself (huge surge in insulin followed by drop in blood sugar).People also blame sleeping in for triggering them when it's missing breakfast that is the true cause.

This book made such a difference to my life. Once I don't let myself get too hungry in general and I set my alarm to have a snack on weekends then go back to sleep. I rarely get one now.

It normally takes two triggers to bring on a migraine...for instance, if I'm premenstrual I'm far more prone to them or if I'm under an awful lot of stress...but I can eat creme eggs to my heart's content once I'm not hungry.:) Caramel eggs would have more fat, (butter) which would be slower to break down whereas creme egg fondant is pure sugar really.

I have gone off crème eggs slightly but I did try the knock off Tesco Fondant eggs. They taste nicer than the present Crème eggs proper.

Though the Tesco chocolate caramel eggs are really good.

No way.. Does the yellow bit taste any different? I imagine it's more concentrated than the white but it's probably all in my head. I understand your disappointment, I had a sugary jam doughnut once that turned out not to have any jam in it, none at all, not a drop:(.

I haven't had a Creme Egg this year yet and now I really want one. I did discover a runaway Creme Egg Twisted sweet from the Christmas tin of Miniature Heroes yesterday, but it just wasn't the same :(

It doesn't taste any different, but like, the YELLOW bit!

    Creme Egg Twisted are yuck.

I think the problem with those are that the chocolate and fondant ratio isn't right. The distinctive chocolatey Cadbury taste overpowers the creamy stuff so you don't get that Creme Egg taste.

I've always wanted there to be a big Easter Egg one of these but it never happens.

Any idea as to why they are seasonal? Is it just a marketing ploy?

They are nice but are very small and expensive in most places

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,429 ✭✭✭✭star-pants

Dunno about expensive, most places have them for around 68c.
Tesco(or was it Dunnes) had an odd deal on though, 3 single ones for €2, when they do a box of 3 for €1.89

They are quite pricey per 100g.
When first introduced in Britain, the original Cadbury Creme Egg weighed 40 grams (1.4 oz) and contained 171.6 Calories.[1] Cadbury Creme Eggs sold in the UK and Canada have remained at this size, but those sold by Hershey's in the United States have decreased in size since their introduction - before 2006 they are listed with a weight of 39 grams,[2] while today they are listed at 34 grams.

During an interview on the April 4th, 2007 episode of Late Night with Conan O' Brien, actor B. J. Novak drew attention to the fact that American market Cadbury Creme Eggs have decreased in size from previous years, despite the claim on the Cadbury's website FAQ that the eggs were not getting smaller, but rather, "you've just grown up!"[1] The site has since been updated to clarify that only American eggs have altered in size

    Most bars are around 55-60g.

I got a wee bit sick of them when they were short dated and being sold off in the €2 shop, it was 10 for either €1 or €2, I think it was €1 since I was surprised at the price, and it being a €2 shop and all. I was like agustus gloop that day, I got 20 or 30, all a blur now...

I've always wanted there to be a big Easter Egg one of these but it never happens.

It was ages ago so I don't have a link, but I remember seeing a youtube clip of some guys who deconstructed loads of loads of regular size eggs and reconstructed them into a giant egg. It was deadly!

I love them but in the last few years Cadburys choc. doesn't agree with me anymore :-( still have the odd one though but is it just me or are the eggs getting smaller each year they are tiny the ones in the shops.

If people are stuck for them any other time of the year check out http://www.aquarterof.co.uk/cadburys-cream-eggs-p-356.html

Creme egg icecreams half price 3x90ml for €1.50 in tescos, they look like magnums, very tasty, not too sweet.

As a major creme egg fan, I was devastated (only a slight exaggeration) of the disasterous interpretation that McDonalds made, in their Creme egg McFlurry, of this usually delightful treat. It was just orange sticky goo with lumps of chocolate thrown in......might try this tesco one though....sounds good.:)

    might try these ones tho!

hmmm not great reviews on this site.
    http://snackspot.org.uk/thread.php?story=0603141437cpi

even saying the mcflurry was nicer.
yeah, the Creme Egg ones were rubbish - not a patch on the creme egg mcflurry.

I thought they were grand, esp. at 50cent each.
