    Hey,
I have Sky tv now, aswel as eircom 7mb broadband and phone.
I want to switch my Broadband to UPC 30MB and cancel my eircom tv and broadband.
So will the line for the broadband with UPC also work with my sky tv.
If not what is the cheapest way to leave eircom but still stay with sky.

I dont want to switch to ntl tv. Its crap

Your eircom and sky should be separate. You should be able to cancel the eircom without affecting the sky.

I need to have the Phoneline connected to both of my sky boxes as I only signed up in september?

You should be able to use sky without having it connected up to your phone connection.

Yea but when I was signing up they told me that I would have to pay for all of my Dish if I didnt connect the phone line in the first 12 months? Is this not the case?

I'm pretty sure that isn't the case. You may lose some functionality (like pay per view) by not having it connected but that's it. I don't have sky though so maybe you should hang on till someone else who has it can confirm.

It is a contractual requirement to have your Sky box connected to a telephone line, this is so Sky can poll your box to confirm that it is located where it should be.

However, this is only required for the 1st year of service and is not necessary after that.

So if you are a customer for over a year then I wouldn't worry about the phone line at all.

    Not at all!

I used to work for Sky. You're under no obligation to connect your phone line to them at any stage (unless you want two boxes connected). They prefer it that way...but you don't need to at all. If they tell you that you do, they're lying.

I'd give Sky a call and let them know that you're doing this...just to be safe that you're box won't be disconnected. It shouldn't be affected but you never know (I left before having to deal with this issue ha).

But if they tell you that you have to keep it connected then run amock.
